selling a house, leave car in drive or make it disappear

When selling a house would leave your car in drive or make it disappear when someone comes to view the house?

Can't get it in the garage because of some packed boxes.

If there is only room for your car, I'd move it. If there's room for two, make sure yours is parked so the viewer can also get onto the drive.

Then you can point out the OSP for "at least two cars".

I really doubt that having a car or not having a car on the drive is going to make any difference to selling a house.

id always move it, its nice for prospective purchasers to pull up on the drive, it makes it feel more like you've arrived home if you can imagine yourself doing it on a daily basis.

It is an old banger, I still use it and it is taxed and insured and MOT'd.

My wife had said to me I hope you are not leaving that wreck in the drive when we get viewers.

    I will move it.

Oooh, how strange. I'd never pull up on someone's drive, even if I was viewing their house. Does that make me weird?! Hubby definitely wouldn't either.

If it's an old banger, I'd definitely move it. Can't you use it as an excuse to go out and leave the missus to it? ;) Not doing much for womenkind, am I lol.

Driveways always seem bigger to me without a car on. But make sure it's not in the street cos that can look worse. Nowt worse than people having driveways but then parking their car on the road. Just makes the road look cluttered and that in itself can put people off.

I agree hazyjo, i wouldnt pull up on the drive myself either, but i know some people will.
Even if they park on the road, being able to see the house properly from the street and creating a good first impression are important!

shft the banger round the corner!

What annoys me the most, is when you move your car off the drive on purpose and the estate agent parks there! One did it when we were looking, made us park half a mile away and walk back in the rain. We actually mentioned it to her..... but she didnt get our issue?!

  • Empty everything as much as possible - drive, sheds, garage, rooms, the lot: Empty rooms look bigger & usually neater, IMHO.. others may think different.

I would try to find somewhere else to store those boxes in the garage.

I borrowed my father in laws car to do viewings as i drive a land rover and the sellers would not have bought my poverty story or the embarrassing offer i put in had they seen the car..:rotfl::rotfl:they did!
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • If you have to ask the question, it's because you know there's something you ought to do! Your wife is right, move the car :)
