All this mobile phone cashback is a load of tosh.
Why do they just not make the line rental cheaper each month to save on all the sending in of bills and other associated rubbish.0 -

They do - it's called Sim-only.0 -
Thank you so much everyone!! Feel a lot better now. I think the best option will be to keep the phone now and come back to this forum regularly to keep myself right:-)
It's my first ever experience with mobile phone cash back and hope everything will turn out excellent.
BTW, what does it mean by saying "if your airtime contract has been disconnected (including disconnections made under Lifeline insurance)"? What is disconnections made under Lifeline insurance?
Thanks so much everyone! This is indeed an invaluable forum.0 -
Hopefully sveika has a great deal and all goes well.
Yes the deal sounds very attractive. It's an 18 month contract (with 17 months line rental free) @ £25 per month for 300 minutes, 300 texts and unlimited internet. The handset is a Samsung Tocco Lite. Can‘t complain at all if we indeed will be able to get the cash back.

I mean on these contracts. It's stupid. Having to send off bills and vouchers to make the line rental cheaper. It would be far easier just to make it cheaper in the first place withouth all the stupidity of sending in bills by such a date time and second.0 -

It's possible to get an automatic cashback, at a much lower value though. For example, in my case, I could opt for £80 hassle free automatic cashback. But I'd rather strive for the £425 cashback I think...0 -

Yes, far easier - and far worse deals for those of us who feed off cashback deals. I'm sure they'd give you a phone, charge you zero line rental, provide masses of minutes and unlimited texts - and even internet access - for absolutely nothing. Oh, and pay you cashback for taking it out in the first place - so you can make a profit to boot! That's how they make money!0 -

I mean scrap cashback schemes to save the stupidity of sending in bills and all that - and just lower the line rental to make it equivalent to the cashback. Not give cashback on top of lower line rental.
After all these sharky mobile companies offering cashback quote the "equivalent line rental" with the cashback - why not just make the line rental that value anyway.0 -

Because your line rental is with the network, not the reseller. The reseller is not able to make reductions to the network's charges. They can only rebate you from the commission that the network gives them.
(Never understood why the networks need resellers anyway. They should be able to offer better deals if you go direct as they would not be paying commission to the resellers. No doubt someone can enlighten me.)0
