Chris - I know, I know - I was far too hasty!
Yes, I've tried to phone the seller today and they cut my call off. I paid using my debit VISA card and someone has just mentioned that 'chargeback' may be a way forward.

That Toe Rag isn't allowed to steal £150 from you either.
Go for it I say, lets at least make his phone not worth keeping hold of.
Unless he is a complete plank it will be a cheap PAYG anyway so will be disposed of, no doubt it has been used for similar scams before...and now.0 -

Hi melb - no I haven't yet. Not sure if that would help? I'm in the Midlands, the seller is in North Larkanshire (so she said).
I've got her personal bank details from when she text them to me on Friday (if they're right of course) & her name although I decided not to make the payment directly to her and paid via paypal. I've spoken to my bank who have said they will do their best to help me but I have to wait 30 days before I put in a claim.
I've opened my claim with paypal in the meantime (I didn't have to wait the 7 days as I originally thought) and am not holding out much hope that she will reply. Again, I have to wait a few weeks to give her a chance to reply.
I've also emailed the site that she advertised with because they state they can try to assist. I will see what they say.0 -

I don't think the Police will be interested because they will say it is a civil matter unless the seller has been scammimg left, right and centre.
You could try though and see what they say, if you do, try and get a crime number for your case.
Try Paypal first for a refund, if that fails then I believe you have 120 days from payment to do a chargeback on your Visa Debit card.0
