Sadly no its not but might make a good alternative. I can't believe the recipe got lost - i have a scrap book for these things but obviously don't use it as much as I should!

    Thank you!:p

I make this one, and it's delicious :D The only Guardian one I can find is from 2005  I seem to remember one from last year, but can't find it

I'll add this to the exisitng C*** pudding thread later (sorry, my keyboard won't type the C-word before December :p )

    Penny. x

These seem very similar to the one we used - thing is now I only have to remember how we adapted them - lol- anyone got directions to a time machine?! :rotfl:

  • I made a couple od Delia Christmas puddings on Wednesday, left them overnight as advised, but didn't get chase to steam them yesterday, and as it turns out my steamer isn't big enough. Are they still safe to use?

If so, how long would they need in the mircowave if I nuke them? And can I still keep adding booze afterwards until Christmas?

I'd apprecite a rapid response if possible as I'm going out soon to need to nuke them now.

    Many thanks old stylers!

    PS. This was the recipe:

I wouldn't like to guess about nuking them. Can you borrow a larger saucepan? It doesn't need to be a steamer with a basket- just pour water in to come halfway up the side of the pudding basin.

I agree - don't think of zapping them in the microwave, things could go horribly wrong!
Steam them as Tish P says and don't worry, they will be fabulous.

Totally agree with other posters- you will ruin all your hard work. I have heard you can make a bain marie by putting them in a large casserole dish surrounded by water but havent personally done this. You can improvise for the steaming if you havent got a steamer by upturning a dish at the bottom of your largest pan and placing pudding on that. Add the water making sure it doesnt enter your pudding ( probably about 2" in the pan) Keep an eagle eye on it.

Otherwise see if anyone has a pressure cooker to save on the time. HTH.

Also look at delia`s method of steaming on her online site.
  • Oh dear... Looks like I might have some more work to do this Sunday.

Last year I made mine, left them overnight, then put them into my slow cooker stood on an upturned side plate, half filled with boiling water and cooked for 2-3 hrs on high. I had 3 puds, so just did one at a time (only one fitted in!). They didn't spoil for waiting to be cooked, and we just ate the last one last week - it was fab. Hope you get on alright with yours, best wishes
