help with my virgin media boxes please :0

Virgin probably won't send a box - they'll send a man in a van about 6 weeks from the date you cancelled - that's how it worked for us.
Reason you can't swap them may be due to the cabling - the second box may 'piggy back' off the feed for the downstairs box - remove this and you remove the feed for upstairs.
The box remains the property of VM,if you don't return it,you will be billed up to £250.
It is normally split in the ETB (Gray box on the house wall outside) or internally if you live in an on street terrace & ran up to the bedroom,if you cancelled the bedroom one,it's more likely to have been disconnected in the ETBjb66 is probably part way there and I misread the original post - I missed the fact one box was normal and one was V+!
The V+ system requires a different signal from the cable. You can't plug a V+ box into a non V+ line. If you've cancelled V+ the V+ box will still receive a signal downstairs, but you can't use the V+ recording features and you'll get an annoying message everytime you change channel telling you the V+ system isn't activated and to call Virgin.
Rubbish. It's exactly the same tv signal for all of them. The card & box are paired to each other & once that is done, the recording ect is switched on via the CLSMS.It works exactly the same as Sky+ does in that respect.blushingbride wrote: »it says no signal on the tv, but the tv works with the v box & my freeview so i know its not a problem with the tv
i'll call virgin was just hoping it could be a quick fix
thanks
Have you tried retuning the TV?both boxes could be on a different RF output.
The boxes are exactly the same & can be used on any installation where called for.

thanks Spike,
Like i said i am still waiting for them to send a box, i wont be getting rid of the v box before they come or if they dont come, i'll just put it in the loft.
I will try retuning the tv however if its coming in via scart i am not sure how to do this, all i have been doing it searching through the av settings & none of them are getting signals.
I'll have another looky tonight & update

OK,so if it's coming thru scart the's no retuning. It may be a faulty scart socket on the TV or V box or even a faulty scart lead.Just make sure the scart lead is in fully, preferably on scart#1.
Can you get the V box menu up on the tv?0 -

i'll check again tonight & let you know.
Does the V box still work on downstairs? Was the V+ box also connected by Scart downstairs?
(If I was there I could fix it in a few minutes!...)0 -
If your V+ was connected via a HDMI cable down stairs and so outputting in a HD setting, then if you've moved it upstairs and are reconnecting via scart the V+ will still be outputting via HD and so this could be why you are getting no signal on the tv (if this is a standard tv) it can be easily amended though by changing the settings on the box using the front panel. if you need these instructions let us know
