Hi All, Very deep snow again here
My reasons for getting involved in this project. I have been cooking frugally for around 20 years but was looking for more ways to frugalise even more. We wanted to set up our own business and I had five men living here and not earning. They were all were working for us for bed and board. and I needed to feed all of them on a shoestring. I loved being able to use skills I learnt as a Food / Home Ec teacher and proof reader. It gave me something to do that I have felt passionate about for many years but not had the skills to do on my own. I also think of weezl as a good friend and a very inspirational woman.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

We have a local craft fair here next weekend and I am providing the carrot cake (weezl recipe) and soups for the cafe for 3 days. I am looking forward to it and I will be putting links to the website on the tables in the cafe. DD is organising it and has already bought all the ingredients ready for me to get started. Just as well as the snow is quite deep here.

Just had the mushroom soup for lunch, the lovely pinkhayley789 was here and I think we both enjoyed it. Was very easy to do and a lovely warm lunch on a cold day like today. Highly recommend it.

we had pizza last night, our own version, not quite cfr.
used asda sp passata for the sauce. We have a huge thick based pizza between us, and it used about a third of the passata. The whole pk is 25p, so about 8p
If making cfr pizza, you could sub passata for the tin(s) of whole plum toms and save a few pence0 -
Thanks Lesley, fudge cake sounds like a good idea. It is the icing that I usually find expensive for these things. We are raising money for the youth cafe that DD runs.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

It's great to hear you enjoyed the cheesecake :j. We love it in our house too. The lemon and ginger one is equally delicious and probably easier to make than the chocolate nut one too.
Thanks all for the warm welcome! We're making our way around the entire site, one recipe at a time!:D Can't wait to try the lemon ginger one as well. Tonight my husband requested the bean curry - his absolute favourite... We also love how quite a few recipes call for garlic (and we put extra in) - we all smell garlicky so no one complains!:rotfl:0 -

I'm not good enough to know how cheap it is thoI would use double possibly treble the milk if icing a sponge cake.
The sponge of the orange cake recipe currently in testing is fab and pretty versatile, I was planning on trying a choc version next.0 -
hi poohbear, I used the carrot cake recipe as a basis for a banana cake. I subbed the raisins for some walnuts I had in, but you could omit them and some frozen, past it bananas. I think 4 for a whole batch, if it looks a bit thick coz of omitting the orange juice I would just add a bit of water or some cold tea.
I can confirm it was nom.
Please continue to post Sparkly, hearing about other people's adventures in cfr land is one of my fave things about this thread. We also love pictures if you're techie and can post them ( unlike me). It also means I get to type "sparklyfairy" which makes me smile
