I dont expect other people to pay all iv done is come on here to ask a question in hope that people will be able to help and so far all i seem to have got is abuse. Its either i reduce my hours and try to make my life better or my doctor signs me off sick for 6 months and i really dont want to do that. I still want to work, its not like i want to do nothing all day everyday! i still want to work but i also want some time do go back to college and study, i didn't think people would see that as such a bad thing!

    Which planet exactly?

    Hello

Yes it is if you are expecting the taxpayers of this country to subsidise your lifestyle choice.

Well thankyou all for helping to explain benefits for me and giving me some helpful advice, much appreciated.

Firstly my gp wont sign me off so i can go to college!!!! d'uh he wants to sign me off work but i dont want him to so instead i thought id actually do something worthwhile and do a course or something.

Secondly im not asking for tax payers to subsidise my "choice" of living im just asking for some advice.

But hell why dont i quit my job altogether, turn into an alcoholic and druggie and waste my life away and all of your money?!?! because thats what you all are emplying here. No, i want to work, i want to make my career better, i dont want to get job seakers, income support etc etc i just wanted to see if there was any way to work while improving my qualifications!

You are contradicting yourself again - why not sleep on it, then read back the thread and see how it looks to an outsider?

I have said from the beginning I DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE WORK, I JUST WANT TO REDUCE MY HOURS SO I CAN DO SOME QUALIFICATIONS AND THEN APPLY FOR BETTER PAYING JOBS!

I currently work 37.5hrs/wk full time but want to reduce my hours down to 16hrs/wk. I take home about £800/mth and want to know will i get enough benefits to "replace" the loss of wages?? Im living with my other half who also works full time and we've got a 3yr old who goes to nursery full time, 5 days a week

See above for what you said in the beginning and note your question in bold
  • if your doctor is going to sign you off for six months then there has to really be something seriously wrong with you. Perhaps you are kidding yourself that you can go to college and also work reduced hours. Your doctor obviously thinks you are not for for work. Time to listen to him/her.

My doctor thinks that going back to college is actually a good idea.
