only go to bt if your good with computers & techie stuff or your son wont be happy because there homehub is a nightmare. about once a month they do an update & it screws all your port settings up setting your nat settings to strict stopping your online play almost dead. its a nightmare keep having to set it all up again.0

If you enjoy slow internet connections and dealing with a nightmare of customer service, then yes, go to BT:j0

Well... to be fair a lot of the larger companies have support off shore... and that is where the problems start...
The question is what your line has any hope of acchieving really... try http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker and post the options and possible speeds here. It MAY be that you will be pushed to get anything faster and infact will need to drop the line speed to try and stabilize your connection...
If your line is too far from your exchange on a bad line then changing to any supplier won't help... unless you have BT Infinity rolling out - in which case the world is your oyster!

We pay £9.99 to AOL each month and honestly thought that was a good deal. We have had a few cut offs lately and wonder what is going on but relucted to phone because can remember only too well how bad it was even in the free call phone days!Overall AOL have been good here. Dianne0

If support in India is a problem, then it's a no to BT as that's the first place they'll direct your call. Usually get a very Scottish sounding person on the 3rd of 4th redirect, but you have to listen to the standard sales rant with every pass within the Indian call center, gets very tiring.0

AOL belongs to Talktalk (well it belonged to CarphoneWarehouse but it now belongs to TT), and Talktalk/Tiscali are doing a tonne of upgrades on the network which causes problems - in the long term you should be better off but I agree service sucks!
Will the Homehub help? Well it's only a router in all honesty... I don't personally have one but I have the Infinity with BT (20+meg vs 1.5 very unstable... it was a no brainer despite the cost) but that's only any use if you have infinity available
Start at the beginning then with eliminating the problems...
Plug your router in the master socket for a few days to see if you get less disconnects - this will eliminate any faulty filters on other things in the house or other electrical interference internally...
When was the last time you updated the firmware on the router you have?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

never knew you had to update , guess i will have to look around to see whats the best for online gaming aand price speed cant come into it as best i can get is 2mg . i like bt as website gives you answers to your problems without having to phone my friends :rotfl:AOL belongs to Talktalk (well it belonged to CarphoneWarehouse but it now belongs to TT), and Talktalk/Tiscali are doing a tonne of upgrades on the network which causes problems - in the long term you should be better off but I agree service sucks!

Gaming - frankly there is no "best for gaming" that I know off... Have you checked to see if Infinity is being rolled out near you? Because that would by far be the best...

What you need for gaming is speed... as high up as you can as well as down - problem is on your line you will probably have to settle for one or the other - it's just not able to support a good up and down...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
