Haven't updated siggy yet but took mum shopping today and i ended up spending £20.12 p in total...£13 something in Morries, then nipped in Aldi on way back home after dropping her off.

The really good thing was that i had a really lovely surprise, when we got to morries my mum gave me a card with £100 of morries stamps in. I said 'i've already had a halogen oven off you and dad for christmas and some nightwear and other stuff'...mum said 'me and your dad want you to have this!'...so we stood debating for 10 minutes...in the end when she said thrust it at me with one of her firm 'no nonsense' looks...i conceded...besides which, i was expecting security to show up any minute and to ask us to 'take it outside'. LOL!

    :-)

How lovely! It's great when you have a day like that - I'm chuffed for you!:T
Mums are great - I had a really carp day yesterday, and when I got home tonight my Mum had left me a H€llo magazine and a couple of packs of sweets "to cheer me up". Just what the doctor ordered, fab!:A

It's about time you had a nice day Katholicos, so good for you hun :T

    Cheese lover here too

The 2 400g blocks I got today were Vintage Reserve.....and I quote " A rich cheddar with a strong lingering flavour, matured for a minimum of 15 months" YUM! Only £1.44 for 400g too making it £3.60 per kg :T

£idl sell some lovely mature cheddars, and they almost always have one on offer (including Cathedral City & Pilgrims Choice) in fact I can't remember the last time I paid full price for a mature cheddar :D

    Thanks sweetie :)

That mature cheddar sounds a really good bargain. Might get down to £idl in the next day or two. I don't drink alcohol and don't smoke and rarely buy meat or poultry but i do like my cheese. It is so versatile! I always buy it when it is half price or less, then grate it/slice it and bung it in the freezer and it lasts months. Thanks for letting us know about the £idl cheese offer :T

  • Evening all. Have managed to pop on here and read each day but thankfully have had several Nsd's. Updated sig now for the past few bits. It's getting near the budget but L!dl opens nearby on Thursday and can't imagine I won't be paying a visit;)

Katholicos what a lovely surprise, aren't some mums lovely. When I was really desperate my mum would pop round and hang a bag of stuff on the back door when she knew I'd be at work. I do so wish she was here now so she could see I may be hard up but not desperate, and more important I'm happy.

We may not make it on target but doing ok I think, the budget was a guess last month but I didn't adjust it, so really am quite pleased with how it's going.
Today I had a lovely day, had the car for the morning. Hadn't bought anything other than essentials for ages but in a few charity shops found:
A pair of unworn Viyella jeans for £5.99. They're on their current website for £80:T

Delia's Complete Cookery Course for only £1.99 - every home should have one, surely?!
A big fat Penny Vincenzi paperback that I haven't read.
And some lovely chunky wool (not secondhand, they sell it new) in gorgeous bright colours to err start making Christmas presents.

As for Christmas, I totally agree no need to go overboard, but a few nice treats. Cheese will feature in this house too:)
Apart from that, for various reasons, no plans yet.

Well I got the £6 bag of potatoes so I am over my budget again but I decided that it made more sense in the long run to pay only £6 for 25kg of potatoes than spend £1 or £2 for a far smaller bag even if it kept me in budget.

I also need to get milk from Farm Foods tomorrow plus I will probably get bread as well while I am there so that will be another few pounds on. I never used to like Hovis wholemeal but tried it a while ago & discovered that I do so thats good as it is £1.25 for 2 in Farm Foods & I used to pay £2 for two Warburtons wholemeal in Iceland.

Two more days of possible spends until OH's payday on Friday so definitely one of my better months even if I haven't quite met target.
    Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan

Adding the "couple of bits" I picked up today. Also got something for my Secret Santa gift but that is not counted in GC.

Mmmm cheese... Definitely have to get my paws on some cheese and biscuits for over Christmas break. Dad likes that too so I shall have a partner in crime
