Been to Mr S this afternoon and spent £12 and pence. I left my receipt hanging out of the self service till but funnily enough I bought mainly offers so know my GC bit came to exactly £6 and the rest was bits for a hamper.
A vist to b00ts followed where they had DH shave stuff on 3 for 2 so took advantage of that and got my moisturiser as I have almost run out. That little lot came to £18.
Finally went to Mr M this evening with DH as he wanted a run out in his new co car and spent £59 including £10 on wine for the parents visit tomorrow, £6 on a half price bottle of port for Christmas and a large granite surface protector, half price at £5. Also got 24 tins of ped chum as it is still on offer at £5 for 12.
Will double check the exact amounts and update the signature in the morning as I am wiped out tonight.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Another £10.70 spent today, but I seemed to get loads for that due to offers and Whoopsies
Full price items (total cost of £9.60) were 1pt milk (not going to get through more than that before it starts to turn), a jar of red cabbage, a Christmas cake (more than enough for just me, and only £2.50), a bag of mini party ring packs which were on a half price offer (6 packs, 5 of which will be used as stocking fillers for my 'kids' who are 19, 21 and 26 - 27 by Christmas - and my grand-daughters), a bag of Qu0rn mince (on offer), a bag of Qu0rn pieces, 2 packs of Derby Scones (on BOGOF) and 3 packs of BM turkey burgers (a B1G2F offer). The Qu0rn will make several meals for me, and the burgers will make another 12 meals (one burger in a roll with mayo and shredded lettuce - yum, yum- either on it's own as a lunch, or with chips as a main meal)
The rest of the shopping was Whoopsies (£1.10) which netted me 2 tubs of double cream, a smaller tub of single cream, a mousse dessert, a pack of 2 cream meringues, a bag of 4 pick 'n' mix honey & sunflower rolls and a pack of 4 malted sandwich baguettes (full price of this lot would have been £5.99). Cream was on my shopping list anyway (and what I saved on one pot of double cream just about covered the cost of the rest of the Whoopsies), the honey & s/flower rolls will be breakfasts tomorrow and Friday (love them split, warmed in the micro, and topped with clear honey), and the sandwich baguettes will cover lunches for at least the next couple of days.Cheryl0 -

i'd buy a bag of value oats and milk for breakfasts - 8 pint of milk is for £2, oats around 60p - should easily do a week
lunches - do you all need pack up or jut eldest child and OH?
Main meals that I can instantly see
egg, chips/ wedges and beans
tuna pizza (no cheese traditionally on seafood pizza so no need to buy any) use the tuna in tom sauce
roast beef with yorkies and spuds
cottage pie with the left overs
chicken (use half the pack) byriani with rice and chappatis
chicken tagine (rest of chicken in a tom sauce sweetened with a little honey) and cous cous
pasta with tuna - using tin of toms, the other tuna, onion
for this lot you'd need to buy veg for with the roast - aldi super six or market be your best bet- i you get carrots can use in the shepards pie base too, another onion or 2, flour to make chappatis to stretch the rice further, some veg for in with the chicken tagine (carrots agin or sweet pots are £1 a bag in asda)People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Another weekly shop - didn't do quite so well this week, but then I had to get some of the things we only tend to buy monthly (like teabags, coffee, washing tablets - you get the idea!). Came in at £84.95, so under my budget which is just as well, as both of us are still unemployed *sigh*.Obedient women are never remembered in History!

Hi there
One of my standby dishes is a sausage & bean casserole. I have a slow cooker but you can do it in the oven - all you'd need to buy would be the sausages and ideally a couple of tins of plain beans (Tesco have3 tins for 99p right now).
It normally does two of us three or four main meals and you can have it with baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc...
Just fry the sausages to brown them and at the same time chop a couple of onions and fry them in a separate pan - on a low heat for a while. When the onions have cooked for a bit add any / all of the following that you have:
Honey
Mustard
Worcester Sauce
Tabasco sauce
Apple juice
Soy sauce
Ketchup.
I've also added chutney, branston pickle, and sweet chilli sauce - anything you have around really.
Then drain two tins of whatever beans (I use a haricot and one of whatever else tesco has in stock - canellini or pinto or whatever. If you have fussy kids you might want to stick to haricot!), add them to the pot with the sauce and throw in a tin of tomatoes. If you have mushrooms I add them in too. Then put the sausages in a slow cooker or oven dish and pour over the sauce / beans / mushooms.
Probably 2 hours in the oven or all day in the slow cooker.
Hope this helps!0 -
Hi All
So much for staying away from the supermarkets! £3.10 spent in Mr S and £17.30 spent in Mr T today. I got a ton of bagels in BOGOF along with tuna so I'm sorted for lunches over the next week or so, mushrooms 2 packs for £1.50, mangetout, casserole beef, half price pork steaks, toilet paper, passata, cranberry sauce and frozen peppers so I don't think it's THAT bad.
Tomorrow I'm going to try and do a Pork Stroganoff with some leftover double cream and white wine in the fridge, and on Saturday I'll try MrsMacawbers Chinese Pork with the diced pork in the freezer and the mangetout.
Will update my signature, and signing off nowGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

A bit of a shock this morning as I checked my bank balance online and found that there were two mysterious transactions on my credit card - two lots of £15 paid to a mobile company for a top up on Sunday. Fortunately I phoned the bank and they have accepted that I didn't spend it and have stopped the card while they investigate what has happened. I usually check my accounts everyday but was too busy yesterday - I did think I was getting a bit obsessive about it but I am glad I spotted this before they took even more money!
Moniker
Hi Moniker,
What a rotten thing to happen, but good that you managed to spot it in time. I also check my account every day, and like you, I thought I was being a bit OTT about it, but it shows it pays to be vigilant!;)
Off to check out the lemon drizzle cake recipe, fancy doing a bit of baking!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
