    Hello all,

I'm trying a little experiment, at the moment I'm out of work due to redundancy, so today I used the time to try shopping in town. Market etc. Thinking that at the moment I've got time to experiment.

Well I trotted off with a list and spent £38.95 now thats pretty good for what amounts to the weeks shopping, however, I didn't have to buy any dinners there, due to what I've previously made/got in.

I'm pretty pleased with that amount, but it remains to be seens if it actually works. I've tried it before and still had to resort to supermarket as I did today.

    So to update:-

I'm trying for £375 this month,
Month started 29th October and finish 26th November

    New Total £138.68

    £38.95

    Total £177.63

I'm looking at £75.00 per week, so this total shouldn't be more than £225.00 by 18th November

Okay - I thought I would try a bit of a 'downshift challenge' and bought 5 cans of Mr T basics tuna. OMG - it was DISGUSTING! I've just had to my tuna bagel away because I couldn't stop gagging. I'm now having a bowl of cereal for lunch:mad:

    Hi,

I know we're not surposed to chat, but if it saves others money.....

I don't like Tuna myself, but I bought some of this for OH (He would have chosen it, to try) he would agree with you, he mentioned something about cat food etc.

Hippeechiq, its good to see you back :hello:

I'm out of eggs and very low on fresh milk so will do a quick dash around the local c00p; as they're so expensive I'll just get what I need to keep me going till next week's sainsbugs delivery ;)

hope everyone is well and safe after the gales and heavy rain ;)

  • Hi everyone, hope you are all well this wet & windy night

Smallish shop yesterday needed baking ingredients I had run out of everything, and this morning I needed juice, I have up dated signature.

Should only needed fruit/veg/milk and bread over the next couple of weeks, so hoping to stay in budget.
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

    Weight loss 3 stone :D

Hippeechiq - really glad to see you posting. You were being hunted on another thread. Big (((hug))) and hope you feel much better soon. Now that the antib have kicked in, you will come on in leaps and bounds!
Will have to do serious thinking, menu planning, rummaging in my freezer and cupboards and a little shopping to make my budget this month. Good luck all. Amazing stories here about stretching food and cooking economically but still healthily.

    :j:j:j WELCOME BACK HIPPEECHIQ!!! :T:T:T

I'm so sorry you and your DD haven't been well. If it's any consolation we have been missing you and were thinking about you everyday watching for your return. I hope the antibiotics do their thing and get you all better. It's lovely to see you back. :D

We had a small spend today when OH needed batteries so I'll add £2.99 to the sig in a minute. The wind is a bit chaotic here today, very strange with leaves and various other things flying through the air. I'm not particularly keen on strong wind as it just reminds me how powerful it is and how small I am. :o

At least it's not freezing like it was a couple of days ago. Got to find a positive somewhere! :p

Ok, I'm off to update sig, have a mooch on the boards and then have my supper. So I'll see you all tomorrow.

    You all take care now,

    Hi all,

Popped into A$da to get a few odds and sods, spent £8.21. Have updated sig - can't really decided whether or not I think I will manage to realistically stick to budget...hmmmmm

thanks for that wmf; unfortunately since I gave up my car, my nearest asda is a long bus ride away; I'll just get 6 from the c00p and then I've lots of eggs coming from sainsbugs as ds has asked for a jar of pickled eggs for christmas

I do miss my car, not being able to get to l!dl and @ldi etc is frustrating! :(

Had the lambs hearts tonight which were brought a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately they were not to my liking and wont be having them again :( The one consolation was the lovely gravy they made which was lavishly mopped up with loads of bread :rotfl:

Have been very good last few days and only had one small spend of £3.48 :) however am off shopping tomorrow. Have just made a list and hope to stick to it.

Tomorrow I am making Lamb Rogan Josh from scratch so wish me luck as never made it before apart from opening a jar of it once (or twice) :D
