:mad:Oh i'm sooooo rubbish at this! I haven't added up so far but i reckon i am at my £200:o and its only halfway through my month which ends on 26th Nov. What makes it worse is there is no excuse as i have everything i need. So i've decided that I am not buying anything until Tuesday when i will need fruit, veg, milk and maybe bread. Thinking of doing jackets and pasta for some lunches next week as have a load of baking spuds and pasta. Will be more filling as well. Plus trying to cut down on bread. Next month i'm going to put that months money for groceries in a separate purse like i've seen some of you on here do and that is all i will use. Will also up it next month as although don't need to worry about Christmas dinner i do have people staying at various times. Maybe £200 has been too optimistic although I know that it is do-able!:)

  • Another shop in Al*i of £37.12 so total now £179.45!

Have relatives staying for a long weekend so can see another shop going to be needed. It is nice to see them but boy can they eat and drink!!! I always feel obliged to offer puddings which we never normally eat so it does hit the budget.

Anyway enough moaning ,I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

  • Have somehow managed to spend just shy of £25 on groceries in 24 hours. Did the £10 deal but will use the chicken and veg to make a soup for lunches next week. Should last me 4 days and I have the rest of the ingredients such as pearl barley already at home. Also got a couple of salmon steaks - like a nice meal if I happen to be at home on a Saturday night. Rest of stuff included essentials such as veg (from market) porridge oats etc. I'm a personal trainer so have to eat heatlhy most of the time which can be expensive. Am aiming for 2 NSDs this weekend and to avoid supermarkets until Thursday next week. Wish me luck and have fab weekend all.
  • Good afternoon everyone. I have just added on another £34 onto my total which I spent at Lidl & Aldi last night. Well I did spend more, including 2 silicone bakeware tins at £3.49 each, a scarf at £2.99 & a thermometer at £1.99 but I am not including them. Hoping to have a few NSDays now at we seemed to be really well stocked up.

I am so tired today as it has been a bit of a busy week but must get on & do some useful thing like some housework or cooking as otherwise OH when he gets home from work will think I have been on here ALL day!

Hippeechiq - lovely to see you back.

Just popped on to update. Did weekly shop last night (Mr T's) and spent around £50. In a way it's more than I should have spent but that does include around £15 of Christmas stuff including a joint, and some stocking up on meat (pork loin steaks) which were pretty cheap. So I'm nearly 2/3 of the way through my budget only half way through the month but I'm still pretty confident!

I am also chuffed that I restrained myself from buying quite a few things I didn't need - and that I hadn't needed to go to any supermarket since last Thursday. Won't happen this week though as I forgot eggs :o

I tried to buy marzipan but they only had the ready rolled stuff at around £2.50  which is ludicrous, even with the 3 for 2 offer. Can anyone recommend where is usually cheapest (or even just reasonable) for a block of bog-standard marzipan?

i just did some shopping for the first time in a long time--i went to a normal supermarket and bought 450g of nestle fruit museli and 500g of special k with fruit--cost me 6 pounds--does that sound right for the same in the uk??---i also bought a large white 'split' from the bakers and it was 0,65p--i am trying to see if my wife is shopping in the wrong places and how prices compare to the uk to see how my budget should be levelled!!

Hippiechiq - I'm going to try and return the tuna tomorrow sans reciept...I've never done anything like this before, but if I don't get the money back I'll just have to write it off. :p I'm not going to have any sort of tuna for a long time now I don't think...I'll get ham or cheese for next week instead!

The Pork Stroganoff I had last night was very nice! Very easy as well, but maybe I shouldn't make it a regular considering the amount of double cream it uses! :DPork Stroganoff
I changed it slightly by thinly slicing 2 pork lion steaks, and frying 250g of chestnut mushrooms. Served with rice, it was enough for 2 (or maybe 3). With green beans/other veg as well it could easily serve 4.
I've never ate Stroganoff before - I've led a sheltered life! :rotfl:

Today I had leftover chilli from the freezer with 2 small jacket potatoes (needed using up) - yum :D

de1amo: The Special K sounds very expensive. I looked online and this would cost £3.89 in Mr S (but it's cheaper on a per kilo basis for smaller packets). They usually cost less with special offers as well. It's probably more expensive because it's an imported product? I don't know if they make them in Turkey

    Hello peeps
Just popped into update my sig. Did my 'big shop' yesterday and had to do a mini one today for the things I forgot (even though they were on my list!) I have £77 to last to the end of the month which is 25th for me. I don't anticipate having to buy anything else food-wise before next Thursday (fingers crossed) and then that's the last week - heck it's going too fast!

I refuse to think about Christmas before 1st December - though we will now have MIL with us after all so won't be able to 'slum' it with Christmas Eve whoopsies as I had planned for me and DH. Hm, will have to put my thinking cap on - MIL has difficult diet and we are going to visit DD1 in Germany from 28th so won't want to buy a big turkey or anything that we can't save and freeze easily.

Thanks Greent for the message - have sent a reply.
