Just been to Mr T's and very glad I did - 7pm on a Weds is a great time for reduced stuff!
Got a big bag of 'veg soup mix' ie. diced carrot, leek, parsnip and celery for 30p (who would pay £1.50 for it mind?!), a punnet of perfectly good plums for 20p and a bundle of asparagus for 35p! Also picked up a sweet potato, some carrots and custard so spent £1.37 in total.
The only disappointing thing about reduced stuff in tescos is there were heaps of bread rolls, unfortunately my 'freezer' is the size of a shoebox so I can rarely take advantage of any bread bargains.
The soup mix looks a little sad so it's going straight into my SC overnight with the bits of chicken and chicken stock from my freezer. I was a bit stuck for what to have for lunch tomorrow so this is perfect.
Not sure what I can have the asparagus with but it looks like it'll be happy in the bottom of the fridge for a little longer. :T I do have a creamy chicken and asparagus pasta recipe that I love as a treat occasionally, but it requires creme fraiche and gorgonzola - not sure it's very money saving to spend on fancy ingredients in order to use up reduced bargains...:rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone
4th NSD in a row for me (I think that is a record) and will be off to do a 'big' shop tomorrow. I have £65 per week left till the end of the month on 25th November - even I should manage that!
A bit of a shock this morning as I checked my bank balance online and found that there were two mysterious transactions on my credit card - two lots of £15 paid to a mobile company for a top up on Sunday. Fortunately I phoned the bank and they have accepted that I didn't spend it and have stopped the card while they investigate what has happened. I usually check my accounts everyday but was too busy yesterday - I did think I was getting a bit obsessive about it but I am glad I spotted this before they took even more money!
Am thinking of trying the local farm shop tomorrow if the weather isn't too awful - though I think I will have to go to Sainsbugs as well. We'll see.
Good luck everyone and keep up the good work.

Sounds like a good deal if it wasn't on offer.
What sort of things to you make for your lunches? If you made a batch of pasta salad you could leave it in the fridge and each morning just chuck some into a tupperware to take to work. Or if you have a microwave at work, freeze portions in tupperware and on busy days just grab one on your way out.
Great idea, thankyou!Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221

Well I ended up buying the pastry for my pasties as I went straight to the gym from work so it was late when I got home. I can't remember exactly how much it was, I'll have to dig out the receipt but think it was around £1.30 but when I got it home and went to make them there was only enough pastry to make 2 pasties  So I've made two which are in the oven now and I'm going to have to go and make/buy more pastry tomorrow for the rest of the mix as I think I have enough filling to make another 4. I think I'm possibly making the worlds most expensive cornish pasties!Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!
Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011
