  • Good evening. Can you put me down for £200 for November please? I managed to make it £5 under budget for October, so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself :)

I don't post very often, but I'm always lurking and I find the information on this thread really helpful. Thank you.

Spent £10.09 in Aldi and got loads - two big bags full - got 2 butternut squashes, leeks, apples, lemons, potatoes, yoghurt, flour, rich tea biscuits, jam (their nice "conserve"), Emmenthal cheese, toffees and caster sugar.
Then I went to the local butcher and got two pork chops, some dry cured bacon, a chicken breast and some cottage cheese and it was £12:eek: Won't be going there again!

Still need to go to tescos as I have a spend and save which runs out tonight.

Made a lovely tea - stuffed butternut squash - I just split and scooped out the seeds of a BNS and then drizzled with oil and roasted for about 45 minutes. Then I scooped out the flesh and mixed it with a little bit of the emmenthal cheese and 2 chopped leeks and 4 rashers of chopped bacon (which I had cooked together in a dry pan), salt and pepper. I put it all back in the shells and then topped with some breadcrumbs and a bit more grated cheese and cooked for about 20 minutes until it was crunchy on top. I did it with pork chops but to be honest it was hearty enough for a main meal - we are stuffed and there is some leftover!

Once I have been to tescos I will do my meal plan for the week.

Hope you are all having a good evening and no bother from the mischief night kids!

Well done for getting so much for so little, and the stuffed BNS sounds delicious, will have to try that sometime, do you eat the flesh of the BNS or just the filling?

    Sue.

Its going to be an interesting month, but please can I join you? Only me and DH but I need to know we're staying within £200 a month before I start reducing it. We're going to be gradually moving to a house an hour away this month as we can't sell his buy to let and can't afford two properties. Could be tight to the wall - or it could be ok as I need to use up some freezer stuff - I'm going from 9 drawers of freezer space (5 currently full) to 3 drawers :(
(I'm also going back to SW after we move so won't be cheap other than the pasta!)

Sorry I didn't answer your question earlier, I have only just read it :p
So glad you like the pasta ..it is serious comfort food isn't it :j -I would think you could freeze it -but you would probably have to add some more liquid when it comes to re-heating it. Hubby took our leftovers warmed up and let down a little in his flask for lunch the following day -he was one happy bunny...
The Spanish rice should freeze too I would think *then again thats coming from she who freezes anything that stands still long enough :rotfl:* ....Im not normally much of a lover of rice but that dish has become a fave ;) - and I can see it being a good dish to do to use up other bits n bobs in the fridge :D

Skint_catt.... Im trying all sorts of new recipes I have adapted to suit SW -so I will post any decent ones on here - I have quite a few ecenomic ones planned ;)

  • Hi All,
Well I came very close to being on budget so in all very pleased with myself. Had Shepherdess pie for tea, didn't like it the first time round, and this was the frozen leftovers - note to self not to make that again. I was chuffed because I came so close to chucking it and getting fish and chips instead.

I've menu planned for the month ahead, and have planned to use up a lot of stuff from the store cupboard, and have written a shopping list for Monday.

I would like to aim for £165 for November

    Have a good week everyone
