about £30 over this month and still 4 days to go  but hoping to keep spends as low as possible between now & then.

not bad for a 1st attempt & tbh wasnt expecting to come in under so not too worried esp as I did buy a few bits on offer that will be used next month and stocked up on a fair bit of store cupboard basics/baking supplies.

find a large amount of my budget goes on milk and F&V must try and find a cheaper supplier as dont really want to cut back on quantity in this area.

thinking I'll prob stick with the budget again for dec as I do have a seperate budget for xmas weekend food so this wont have to come out of the GC but then again if i buy the xmas weekend food out of a seperate budget should I reduce the GC budget

LTS I was just going to post that it's your best since April! And your third best of the year, so well done! :T:T:T I get paid last working day of the month too. But this week we had an email come around from payroll to say that in December we'll recieve the money in our bank account on 23rd. Perhaps they'll do the same for you. Possibly will because it's a school isn't it? The council are very likely to be closed around the end of the year. My problem with being paid early is that it makes January an almost six week month. Good luck anyway.

    Take care,
    Spigs

Thanks Spigs & yes it is a school so maybe they will pay us earlier. I am posting this a different way to how I do normally as I normally use the quick reply thingy at the bottom of the page, so I although I can now see the smilie key, I am now lost as to how you multi-quote!

damn, just realised I had put in the wrong smilie-face & have deleted it but now can't put in a different one now I am in "Edit"! I'm hopeless!

Well done by the way to those coming in under/on & close to budget :T and also those who are improving and trying :)

    Also, welcome dooleysdollymix88 :hello:Agree, welcome.

Long tall sally How long did you cook your stewing steak for, if you don't mind my asking? I tried it for the first time earlier in the month and although a lovely flavour, it took a good 2 hours to become tender, and that was with cooking it on a combination of microwave and convection. Just wondered how long you cooked yours for?

Thanks Hippeechiq. Maybe one month I might actually meet target - now that would be nice! :j

I cooked the beef for 90 minutes on the hob as my recipe said & then about 25 minutes when it was in the oven in the form of a pie. I had actually intended cooking it in the slow cooker (before it became a pie!) but ran out of time but yes I think you could be right & will remember to cook it for longer next time. Now Hippeechiq, I know you will know this - how do I multiquote using this different way of posting to my usual? Just going to try another smilie, seeing as I have just learnt that, lol!

LTS you can multiquote up to three (I think). Click the double balloon on up to three and then when you want to actually quote/reply just click the quote on one of them. Takes you to the advanced post screen and all three will be shown. I just type in between the relevant quotes and often remove parts of the quote if it's long or I just want to reply to part.

    Declaring for November at £93.29.

...as I did my last shop of November tonight and won't need to get anything else until it's December, barring total unprecedented disaster *knock wood*. I know what's happened there, I bought extra bacon than I was going to because it was on offer (which will come in handy). As well as that, a couple of magazines I usually buy were unexpectedly bigger "Christmas issues" this week and so cost more than usual, but I still got them. Taking those things into account I come in a couple of quid under budget for the month, so I'm happy with where I'm at and don't feel as though I am over really.

Can I please be put down for £45 for December? I have halved the budget I've recently been working to because for half of the month I will be away visiting family and friends for Christmas/New Year, and so will not be doing grocery shops as usual while there. I will probably get odd bits while I am there but it's going to be much easier if I just don't include that as part of the grocery shopping budget, so will keep an eye on anything I spend while "on holiday" separately.

ETA - Hippeechiq and Spiggle (and everyone else of course!), I also do my month so it runs from the 1st to whatever the last day of the month is. Partly because I am paid on the last day of the month (rather than e.g. the last Friday of each month, as some are), and also because it's just easier to me.

.......I always feel like I'm on my own for the last few days of the GC month, as my months run from the 1st to the last day of the month.....anyone else still here up to and including the 30th?
I run by calendar months as well, so am still reading the thread.

I'm way behind with updating my s/sheet and signature though - something I have to catch up with this weekend, else I won't be able to declare on Tuesday night :o
