I'm just a bit dubious though, as even £4.49 isn't very expensive for steak, Has anyone on here ever tried £idls Steak before? If so, any feedback would be gratefully received :)

    QUOTE]

Hi Hippeechiq - I buy a lot of meat from Lid! as it's British and reasonable prices and never had any complaints, had their Frying steak a couple of times and it was delish - (will have to check out that offer tomorrow.:o)

  • Sorry, me again! Just realised that November was actually my best month since April! No idea, how to put in a smiley face etc but would appreciate it if someone could tell me!

This month is going to be very hard, I think. Aswell as myself & DD & DS being off over the xmas holidays, plus OH for a week, I have my mother coming to stay for a week & we also have OH's Mum coming Xmas & Boxing day. As OH's payday is the 26th & mine the last day of the month, there will after I get paid, be no more income until after xmas now.

I have just spent £61.02 this morning and will be going to Lidl tomorrow probably with my £5 voucher from the Dairy Mirror to spend.

Hippeechiq - I will be looking out for those steaks tomorrow & at that price will probably take a risk, if there are any left. The last two nights we had steak pie from the diced beef that I had from Lidl. It was a bit weird because mine & OH's eldest portions were fine, really tasty but OH & his younger son complained that some of their meat was really tough & chewy.

Quick question - I've bought some chillis, but I definitely won't use them all before I go away. If they stay in the fridge until the week starting the 13th December will they still be okay? And if not, do they freeze okay? :o

Not only will they freeze but you could also just put them in a jar and add some oil to cover them. I do this a lot and also add 1-2 cloves of garlic. Occasionally the chillies go a little wrinkly (dont we all :rotfl:) but they still taste the same.

Btw Which reported L!idls £2.99 Christmas pudding came top in their blind taste test.

Thanks for sharing that :) OH & SS don't like Christmas pud, but my daughters & I do, so I need to get one.
I had a real craving for Christmas Pud on Wednesday evening, so DD & I had a Christmas pud for dessert that was dated Best Before June 08, and rather lush it was too :rotfl:

Re the £idl steak - I agree scotsaver, I buy all my meat from £idls (bar sausages), and have done for the past few months and I can't fault it, or the price. Just wondering how they can do steak at that price, but if the frying steak is good, the rump should be even better in theory.

Long tall sally How long did you cook your stewing steak for, if you don't mind my asking? I tried it for the first time earlier in the month and although a lovely flavour, it took a good 2 hours to become tender, and that was with cooking it on a combination of microwave and convection. Just wondered how long you cooked yours for?

MRS MCAWBER, could you please put Hippeechiq down for £275 for December - thank you :)

Hiya :) When you click the POST REPLY button, it takes you to a box where you type your message. To the right of the box you type in are a load of smileys, and you just click on any one of those.

Or, if you just want a basic smiley type : ) together (without the space) and when you post your reply, or preview your message, it'll show a smiley, or if your browser is IE 8, it'll show the smiley straight away without previewing it. HTH

By the way - well done you! :T

When we took Bella to be spayed at 1 year old the vet didn't believe how old she was after she weighed her as she didn't think she was big enough.

Awww, that's cute LannyLee! :D My two are also greedy pigs though I tend to give them a pouch only every couple of days as they have a special dry diet the rest of the time. I have the opposite when I go to the vets: my 9 year old (kitten) tom cat weighs in at a hefty 6+ kg (not fat really just long and very big) and my 'little' girl is just over 4 kg but she does look tiny next to her big brother! ;)

I think saving £1 per day towards Christmas is a brilliant idea :T ...
...I always feel like I'm on my own for the last few days of the GC month, as my months run from the 1st to the last day of the month.....anyone else still here up to and including the 30th?

I agree Hippeechiq, and as I already have a monthly piggybank account where I save an arbitrary amount per month by direct debit for Christmas (its new so for 2011), I've just upped the amount to £30.50 per month to equate to 366 days. Ok, I know there're only 365 in a year but going to imagine every year is a leap year. :p

My month runs to Monday 29th and purely because I managed to confuse myself last month over whether I start a month on my payday (last working day of the month) or the day after! So I set the start/finish so I wouldn't get confused again. How dim am I? :o And you're never on your own on here, we still keep watching even if the month has changed! :D

LTS I was just going to post that it's your best since April! And your third best of the year, so well done! :T:T:T I get paid last working day of the month too. But this week we had an email come around from payroll to say that in December we'll recieve the money in our bank account on 23rd. Perhaps they'll do the same for you. Possibly will because it's a school isn't it? The council are very likely to be closed around the end of the year. My problem with being paid early is that it makes January an almost six week month. Good luck anyway.

    Take care,

  • Have finally caught up with the thread and have had a few spend this last week. Last Sunday spent £15 at butchers on hot food and roast and then went out for a meal on Monday at a cost of £31.46. Went to Mr S on Tuesday as the store was closing for the refurb and spent £47.35 which include a lot of whoopsied bread. In 8 days I have spent loads so will need to reign things in for the rest of the month.

£2.97 spent today on toothpaste, body spray and some crisps (oh dear, not more!) They were reduced and they're my favourite, so I couldn't resist.

    Hello..

Well I have overspent this month but I am well stocked so it is no big issue, hey I am still saving on what I have spent in the past pre GC.
Went to A$da yesterday and spent £17.36. I got two big bottles of Comfort which was 2 for £3 and thats 84 washes and it is my favourite tropical one. Also got cough medicine, cheeses, veggies and mayo etc.
Have a lovely full freezer which will be used over the next month, plus a well stocked baking cupboard so I will be making some biscuits/cakes etc for friends and my support group buddies for the Chrimbo season.

Have not decided on next months budget yet, does not need to be much higher as
    a) I do not drink so won't be buying any alcohol
    b) I have next to no guests coming and will be out for the big days
    c) I must get my freezer level down a bit

    But..
I will allow for a few treats as hey why not..!

    Sarah xx
