They are paid 24/7, exempt from the Disability Discrimination Act, probably exempt from employment laws to (could be wrong though)0

I don't know anything about it, however I would think they are exempt from employment law, can't really ask whoever you are fighting if you can stop for 15 minutes as you've been working for 4 hours without one. What is pi? Where did it come from?0

Maybe they shouldn't do all that nasty fighting as it got in the way of the tea breaks.I would like to live in Theory, because everything works there0 -

Take it to the european court of justice, I always thought we should stop for standeasy, and lunch when on Ops. Maybe we could get the UN to agree a 37 hour week conflict resolution.0

The armed forces are exempt from the WTR but much of the spirit of the regulations have been embodied in working patterns.0

Forces aren't covered by civvie employment laws, although you do get the 'x-factor' in your salary, which allows for the longer hours and strange working patterns. My hubby was working upto 18hours a day in Afghan, but he said he'd rather be busy than sat doing nothing. It's swings and roundabouts but I think it all equals out in the end....it's easy to forget all the stand-downs, beer calls and weekends off.Starting again and working towards our new df life!A very proud forces wife0

The armed forces are exempt from the working time directive.
The RAF is the exception to that as they all finish for the weekend on Thursday lunchtime :rotfl::rotfl:(that was a joke by the way!)Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

I asked for an answer on a simple question not a comment on what you think are my mans works ethics are- he is not complaining I am simply seeing if there are rules that govern the army, when not getting ready to deploy or already in afgan etc....
For your information he's done close to his 22 so not as if hes a nodder is it!!!
I worry for other peoples safety as well as his at times, and think others feel the same way. When he's been on active duty he says the more work the better, however when they are on british soil, travelling on british roads dont you think there should be some regulations.
BTW I've yet too see the x factor pay!
thanks to all that did reply a sensible answer, it was as I thought.Making small changes, hoping they will last....0 -

Seriuosly though, there are flying time limits for Aircrew . I am sure it is more than for civvie pilots but there is a finite amount of hours they can do flying such as the VC10, Tri*, C130 etc.
It gives rise to the line that the Navy sail in, the Army dig in and the RAF check in!!!
Operational fast jet pilots don't have the same limits, but they most likely haven't got 150+ passengers down the back!0
