I've got some Windows Media Player videos that I wanted to put onto a DVD to watch on a DVD player. I've used Roxio to get them on it and it works fine on my PC but not on my DVD player - Help!
2p off is still 2p off!

Try this place... it's excellent for all things DVD etc0

You'll need to convert the WMV files to a format playable on your DVD player before you put them on DVD. e.g.; mpg or avi(DivX) if your player is compatible with DivX.
You can use this; http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/mediacoder.cfm0 -
There's an increasing problem on the internet where sites advertise a good freeware product, but then direct you to a tacky, hopeless bit of software that has almost the same name.
The https://www.afterdawn.com site is one of the most honest I have come across. On the whole, it seems to deliver what it says.
For DVD copying, it has DVD Shrink 3.2 , which is as fast and reliable as any commercial software and is free. I think it is available at

I've used this for a year, and it's great. Easy to use, reliable, etc. The only thing I'd do with the copy options is change your maximum write speed by half, which is slower but a bit more reliable.0 -
Cheers, I'll have to get it and give it a whirl...2p off is still 2p off!0

A couple of other useful sites are
http://www.doom9.org which has some useful step by step guides
and
http://www.videohelp.com which has lots of information and guidesIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Will have a look at these thanks!0

Do let us all know how you get on. There may be different solutions for different versions of WMP, and also if the download is copyright.
For better or worse, there will be not only a solution, but the best will probably be free. FairUse4WM is a tool that MS are trying to have removed as a download, but it's still widely available if you decide to strip copyright.0 -
Managed to get it sorted but having issues trying to get it on DVD, was using DVD-RW but someone advised me to try DVD-Rs instead. I used Roxio but it will only work on PC's not on DVD players but a friend has said try using Nero and burning as images (?).2p off is still 2p off!0

Did you finalise the disc? If you converted the WMV files to MPEG2, you'll need to use Nero to create a DVD playable in your DVD player.
If you have converted them to DVD, you may just need to 'burn' them as a data file.0 -
Think so, reckon I need to have a mess about at doing this again.2p off is still 2p off!0
