    192.168.2.1

that ip,put that into your browser or click it (where you type web addresses) and hit enter

Doesn't work, there's no internet connection at all, I have virgin media broadband using a cable from the back of the TV set top box to the computer, when I unplug that and stick the router plug in (with the internet cable plugged into the router) there's nothing, no internet connection whatsoever! I'm thinking of just giving up now as it is obviously not good for me to mix with techie things! :o

I do really appreciate all your help though! Thank you :)

    it doesnt matter about net
that address simply logs into the router, not the net

so you have an ethernet cable from the router to your PC?
then an ethernet cable goes from the router to your set top box(ive never had that, always separate modems)

Oh right, well it says that it can't connect to server when I did that ip address thing:o

I have an ethernet cable from router to PC then the ethernet cable goes from set top box to either PC or into the router! It's ever so confusing! :o

    right,cool
does the router show a green light where you have the cable plugged in?
    on the back
do you have the cable from the set top box going into the WAN port
and the cable going to the PC in any of the 1,2,3,4 ports?

also, what operating system do you have? xp,vista,W7?

i would turn off the router
    leave it 10 miutes
power it up with no ethernet cables
    perform a reset on it
reboot the PC and set top box
then hook it all up again
    try the 192.168.2.1 again

you should get this in IE
