We had a registry office and back to the pub for sarnies and a few drinky poos.
Mrs Advent didnt want a big wedding Mr Advent didnt want a big wedding, friend took the photos, we did the catering, sister made the cake, drunken people singing on the karaoke.
Maybe not classy but it cost us a few hundred quid and was a blinding day.0

oh, I'm about to start planning mine - can't see me spending £23,000 on it! Although I've been quoted £2,500 for the exclusive use of a venue - not including anything.....another one quoted £2,500 but that included the linen and waitresses too...I think I'm looking in the wrong places

We got married at Gretna Green----over the famous Anvil!!! It was a lovely day----just OH(of course!!) and my two children. It cost £800---that included all our outfits, the ceremony and a meal afterwards. Also, a few days in the Lakes for our honeymoon! That was back in 1997! We go back most years for a visit and the tourists are fascinated by our story----each year we go back we tell them at the admissions that we got married there and they let us in for free!
I think our Wedding pics will be in photo albums all over the world---there are always bus loads of tourists there!
Forgot to say there was only the four of us there---the two witnesses were a couple who were getting married a couple of days later---they had just come up from Coventry for their wedding!!! We still keep in touch with them!

You dont need an evil slip of green paper (not my words) to show how much you love someone
As some famous philosopher, or some drunk guy in a pub once said
"If you love a woman, dont marry her"
I always thought you got married to prepare for those times when you DON'T love your spouse. You know, for the security of the children and that sort of thing.:beer:0

I got married just over 2 years ago and I think it cost around £1,000 all in. It was a modest affair but I got my brand new dress in an wedding dress outlet (it was soooo last season darling!) but I liked it. The bridesmaids dresses were off the peg, and each one was different (although the same colour), this suited each of the bridesmaid's individuality.
I handcrafted the stationery, and bought favours etc from Ebay. I handcrafted the gifts for the mums and bridesmaids, and bought little dragon ornaments for the men (little characters that reminded us of them).
We had a church wedding for about 80 people there, and had the reception in a hotel and stayed there overnight. We got married at 4pm so we only had to feed everyone once, and opted for a cold buffet. We had a good old knees up with a mobile disco. The guests bought their own drinks (which we notified them of beforehand).
We had a fantastic time (but it wasn't what my mum wanted) and everyone smiled all night. It was great.
I want to do again (with the same man!).DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0

Well there's Simon Groom. I believe he's surplus to requirements these days... :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

lol And where are you going to find someone to agree to "Suicide is Painless" as you walk down the aisle?:rotfl:"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
