i got this too, but stupidly i paid the bloody invoice cos i thought i must have joined it!! do you think it's too late to ring/email them (plus i've got the book on ebay to sell!)

I did the same and then a week later they sent me 2 more books total £14.97. scammed  try cancel the whole thing before they send more! or I dunno if this would work, but maybe change your contact details on the site and put blank spaces or nonsense postcode etc? I am thinking of doing this but i am scared it might be illegal or something...Anybody know if it is and how to get out of this at this stage?
  • They have a website listed in the material they send - this is at https://www.myclubonline.co.uk - taking a look at their privacy policy turns up some lovely little gems...for example

"We may use the information provided to process any transactions undertaken by you and for internal administration and analysis. We disclose your information to third parties for the purpose of administration and providing services to you."

lovely so we buy from you and you sell our details to anyone you chose to..but it gets better..

"From time to time we may employ a third party to send out e-mail campaigns and to serve cookies and pixel tags."

A third party - lovely some faceless organisation, god knows where your details will end up....Pixel tags by the way are as described here: http://www.answers.com/pixel%20tags "it is a method for passing information from the user's computer to a third party Web site." so they will use stealth technology to monitor what you are doing on your pc....why this is a book club but if you sign up to them you agree to be monitored....right thats honest trading!!

I can't say this enough - don't go there, don't do any business with them - they are trying to trick us into paying them, report them - they are owned by a major multi-national Bertelsmann - i'd suggest complaining to them if you have been tricked into paying them the money on the false invoices for stuff you never wanted - as someone said earlier you don't have to pay for anything that somone sticks through your door unsolicited.

    Just my 2c,

Can anybody tell me the number as they have just sent me a bill for £16.99 for just the first book. When i tried to ring them i couldnt get through to anyone it was just automated.

Been going through the same with them, also got to keep the book though! If you call them, when the phone picks up it asks you to press "1". DOnt press anything and you will be transferred to an advisor.
