Hey - I hope you do well!!! My OH is 'in' and works at an ATR - sometimes there can be up to 18 months waiting time from recruit selection to starting your basic as applications have recently gone through the roof. They're only accepting potential SUT's (soldier's under training - apparently no-one calls them 'recruits' anymore...) with a grading of A now at their selection weekend.

    ... BUT...

Never forget the TA exist.... I do know of some peeps who were encouraged to join the TA to get their fitness up to spec and to get some mil experience before reapplying to the regulars. You were a 'Special' and so you'll be used to the 'double life' thing. You get paid in the TA though.... fairly well too :). I've just had to hand in my kit after 8 years :(:(:(:(

TA RMP (or if you will... STAB monkeys) exist.

... but if you really want to wear an odd colour beret you could always go para or AGC. There's also TA 'THEM' but you have to run around with some black nasty over your eyes. ;)

I know its going to be a while, but not as long as the Police lol.

I did look into the TA, and think I would have gone for it if I had a job I enjoyed, but at the moment I hate work, and want to leave ASAP.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

Still think about the TA, as if you are successful at your selection weekend you may still have a long wait until you start your basic. In that way you'll stay fit, and pre-learn some of the mil-skills. If you've got a !!!! job, then it's always nice to have the weekend to look forward to when you'll be running around in 'green' and sleeping in a ditch :)
