boiler only lasted 3 years

i posted this on over 50's but thought it might be better here. If you had a boiler fitted 3 years ago that cost altogether for boiler and labour £2,500 and 3 years later you need another one can you claim anything.

Shouldnt a boiler last more than 3 years. It was a veissman combination boiler.

  • Which Veissman model is it? Who installed it? What is wrong with it?

Who said you 'need' a new one? BG by chance?

Veissman are thought of as a good boiler and I cannot see how you should need a new one in just 3 years.

The main heat exchanger has a 10 year warranty, but will have exclusions in the small print.

The only boilers that I've seen regularly fail at about 3 years are the Ideal Isar/Icos range, due to the heat exchanger leaking.

If you have it installed by approved installer, don't these boilers have 5 years warranty? (I am just getting quotes to install one of these in my house)

How has it failed? Is it actually beyond repair?

I'd have said Sale of goods would cover this, is the firm/person who installed it still around?

So if you buy a car, dont get it serviced & drive it like sh*t you get your money back 3 years later?

    Think not.

We still await the exact problem but generally I agree with you.

If my car fails because I haven’t had the oil or some other service item changed then I rightfully wouldn’t expect any help with it.

If however a non serviceable part failed for reasons unrelated to servicing say as a result of a design or manufacturing defect then I would expect Audi to pick up the bill.

How many serviceable items are there in a boiler?

A boiler is only as good as the system its installed on. If the system wasn't cleaned properly before fitting the new boiler you're gonna have drama's whether you've got a Vmann or a Ravenheat.
  • I think the OP needs to clarify its service history
