Car Insurance - Beware, Use of another car

You seemed to be discriminating against drivers using third party cover all te time. Third party cover is not intended just for "emergency" use (however you want to define it)!
If you damage your own car when you have third party insurance, it makes no difference the purpose of the journey, the damage isn't insured!
I am not dicriminating against anyone! I coose to have comprehensive cover as that is what I feel I require (I have had third party ony insurance myself in the past). As part of what I consider to be a normal part of having this type of insurance I expect to be covered for the use of other cars third party when I need to be.
I am annoyed at Barclays because they allowed me to buy the policy without making me aware of the terms and now expect me to pay extra to cancel it.0 -

Don't you see anything patronising/discriminating in this?
Your "of course its only for emergency use" is the point of discussion!0 -

Well, as I had originally pointed out:I hardly ever need to drive another car but it is handy to be covered if, for instance my car was in for an MOT so I could borrow my father's car.0 -
I'm insured on my policies to drive any other car, with the owners consent, and providing it isn't one registered/kept by me.... third party cover. Even an insurance policy I hold third party gives me this. Have never held a policy without it.0

That's exactly what I had expected.
Am I wrong to think I should have been told I wouldn't get this?
And then have to pay a premium to get out of it?0 -
You are wrong!
You didn't ask for it, just assumed it!0 -

Well.....this is easily found online at the Barclays car insurance website:Driving other cars
Please check your policy documents carefully to see if your insurer offers this cover.
So they were alerting you to the possibility you wouldn't get the cover. As they advised you, you should have asked first if it was so important!0 -

But it's not in the policy documents, they refer you to the certificate of insurance, which I had to wait to receive.0 -

Most people wouldn't split hairs over the certificate being part of the policy documents!0
