  • Didnt spend any money at work yesterday but had to put £27.50 on my cc for petrol yesterday as I was on the red-rubbish. Need to go and put my cheque in from the Halifax in tomorrow but still haven't got my BT cheque-please hurry up. I have enough money for all my bills and dd but just have no money for petrol, food and sundries(not good!) So tally so far to pay back next month is already £27.50 with 22 days to go-brilliant.

Things are just going from bad to worse-my signature is going to be even worse now because i've managed to rack up another grand of debt over the past 6 months. starting to despair-not on anything frivilous but rather on car services, kids shoes, new tyres for my car-i'm just drowning and not keeping afloat. I can't even make my wages last for the month-I really need to stop this now as finding it hard to cope and starting to get scared about my ever increasing debt. The main problem is that the majority of my wages goes on childcare. I should be in a lot better position after easter when i get my childcare vouchers but i need to get this in control-it's just scaring me now...my hsbc card has gone up to 3500. I need to sit down and work this out tonight and stop this now (i'm on night shift!) Wish me luck..

Well i've done the budget planner and can see that I am overspending! My worst vice is booking holidays-that is what my debt is mostly from-me thinking ooh i'll book us a holiday in advance and then fooling myself into saying i'll pay it off before before we go and then never doing it. This has stopped now-had loads of stuff through the post about saving money by booking early and i have a terrible compulsion to think-I'll book for june half term and 'save' money. Realistically I'm having a laugh because I just haven't got the spare money to have holidays at the moment end of story. They are a luxury I just cant afford with my massive childcare costs. I think I have just had a major LBM with this-most of my debts are holidays that I have never paid off because I don't earn enough to afford them.

  • Well I did well today because I had a no spend day-being asleep all day is great for that! Ds had a parent evening and he had a good report except for being very chatty and not listening..! We had whoopsied sausages from waitrose for tea with red cabbage and mash. I cooked up the whole red cabbage and then popped half in the freezer so we can have this for our veggies for sunday dinner. Will make a shepherds pie tonight for the kids tea tomorrow tonight (still on economy 7 at the moment so will make the most of the cheaper leccie in the middle of the night-I work my nights from home!) and will make some banana bread as I have two going over bananas in the fruit bowl. Have realised that my food budget is waaaaay over-I've seriously fell off the wagon of Old styleness that I was doing so well on two years ago. Looking in my fridge I've got three veggie pots at 2.50 each-seriously they have a bit of rice a few veggies and a few spices-what a mug am I and I keep paying 49p a time for bottles of fizzy water when i've got the tap right here! Bit more time spent on the os boards and i should be clambering back on the wagon!

Welcome back beckseven, just read through your diary....

Wow what alot of different incidents your family have been through.

I have to say that well done on realising where all the money goes.... Some of us never realise.

I will keep watching and hope things start to settle down for you soon.

Thank you silkglade-it has been a bit of a rollercoaster year reading back on my diary! There's always a running theme of me spending too much though and spending too much on the food shopping! Now my debts have reached the £10,000 mark I just suddenly thought-stop messing about and knuckle down to change my spending habits or else this will escalate-I've never been this much in debt before...Never mind onwards and upwards!

  • I woke up at 11.15am today after going to bed at about 7.15 and then just couldn't go back to sleep. In the end gave up on sleep and got up-was a bit grouchy with the kids but at least they appreciated my homemade banana bread and shepherds pie! Went to the local butchers and spent £3.35 on 350g of stewing beef for the tamarind beef I'm going to whack in the slow cooker tonight and then got a call from husband saying that we were nearly out of coffee!!!! so picked up a jar of Cafe Parisien for 2.09 from Tesco Local-total spend today £5.44. I also organised and cleared out my store cupboard-have got loads of rice in different packets-I must have a rice fetish! I'm going to draw up a meal plan tonight to utilise what is in the store cupboard-have got 2 packs of lasagne sheets, red lentils and red rice (more rice!) so have already decided on lasagne, an indian style cottage pie with red lentils that can be made in the slow cooker and have some lambs kidneys in the freezer so need to think of something with that-perhaps steak(stewing steak that is!) and kidney pie in the slow cooker with a filo pastry top. feeling nice and positive that I can do this!

Got up at 12.30 after my last night thank goodness! managed to attack my very dirty kitchen and bedroom (had some work done on the bathroom and the dust is still settling) Went to Lidl to get some stuff to make my lasagne tomorrow night and got onions, funsize apples, 2 fromage frais, chopped tomatoes, 2x packets of biscuits and lean mince plus a bottle of rioja for £9.86. Have got my tamarind beef in ginger beer simmering away in the slow cooker so looking forward to a nice relaxed evening with a glass of rioja and telly!

Well feeling very pleased with myself after going to Mr As and just happening to pass the reduced section at just the right time-got a turkey breast joint that was £9.37 for £3.80, mince for 32p lamb steaks for £1.80, pork mince for 97p and 2 rump steaks for £1.20-love it! I got wine and a birthday prezzie and wrapping paper and all the meat and other bits and bobs for just £33.20. I do love a bargain-shoved it all in the freezer . in the middle of making a lasagne for me and Dh and will freeze the leftovers for the kids dinner next week. Keep forgetting it's half term next week-arrrgh! I won a family ticket bowling so will be using this next week! Over the first hurdle for risking temptation as my friend asked me last night if me dd and ds wanted to join her and her dd for a chinese tonight-it would have been 11 for me and £6 for the kids but I just texted back and said that I was on a tight budget this month as I was taking my mum and dad out for a meal for their birthday (true). I just need to not be afraid of offending people by saying no to things I can't afford. She wasn't offended at all and then offered to take me and ds to a birthday party tomorrow as she's using her husbands car which has 'free' diesel! Off out to a friends for dinner tomorrow night so no cooking-yay!

Had a very busy weekend-spent £8 on Saturday as I took ds to a party and brought dd too so spent £8 paying for her to get into the farm park where it was held. Managed not to buy anything there. We went to dinner at a friends on Saturday but then spent about £20 in Mr s's on Sunday and 49,31 in mr t's today-I'd be fine if we didn't eat!
