moneyonmymindsam said:Brilliant news on Abbies car sounds wonderful, your such a lovely mum I bet she's thrilled. I've had 4 driving tests cancelled due to lockdown! So I understand the frustration.
There is a huge backlog on tests in uk so I would book a test date on DVLA if you can now, so let's say you think it will be x months before she's ready then book it, I don't know what it's like your way but it's July earliest round here. If not ready for the date you booked you can move it/change it 8 times without charge. Its about £60.

I’ve not stopped all morning.
got up at 6.30am for my mindee arriving who then went to sleep on my couch as it’s too early for her so I jumped on the cross trainer as it’s downstairs anyway did 30 minutes on it and finished just in time for hubby getting up.Once he left I got on with sorting out my avon orders so that’s another job out the way and I have organised everyone’s deliveries. Have also organised my returns as well. Have sold a bundle of my avon perfumes that are sitting in my cupboard doing nothing so put them on the rep sites so made £40 on the perfume bundle, have packaged it up and will drop it off after I’ve done the nursery run. Another rep is coming to collect my skin care bundle so making £30 on that, will put this money towards hubby’s bike tax which is £93 for the year so only £23 to add to this. He’s paying his own insurance tho lol
Went with hubby last night as he sold the original alloys that were on abbies new car he got £150 for them so this money is being used to buy brake disc and pads and a radiator which is more than enough. So still not costing us anything so far but he reckons it might need a new battery but they are about £40 so not too bad.
have decided that I’m stopping the rerendering fund at £5k at the moment then it won’t be touched. Don’t want to be dipping into it for home improvements so have renamed one of my savings account as home improvements and when hubby sends his housekeeping over I’ll round the rerender fund up to £5k then anything over that will be sent to the home improvements, this will cover any plastering, electrical and the loft hatch that needs to be put in. Hubby still hasn’t a clue how much I’ve saved and I plan to keep it that way lol xx.So far the plastering is costing us £530 this includes putting up the coving we want to not too bad the other quote was £600 but hubbys friend has started his plastering business up again so we got a quote off him. The loft hatch is £250 this includes widening the existing hatch, putting in a new plastic frame and ladders. Saves us dragging the ladders from the garage to top of our upstairs landing. We have an electrician coming out on Saturday to give us a quote to require the bedroom down the stairs no doubt we will need a new electric box which is a given as we were told when we bought the house it would need to be done in about 10 years so we are nearly 5 years in so might as well get it start whilst one room is empty.NEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.055 -

morningma
been a productive one so far did my 30 minutes on the crosstrainer whilst everyone was sleeping, grabbed a shower got the kids up for school, dropped the wee dude off at school, dropped off a avon at the school gates, came home cleaned the breakfast bar that seems to be a dumping zone, I can now actually see the surface now.
I have done the banking and took advantage of the no council tax month so I have £419.05 in my home improvement fund. It's nice to log onto my banking and see the £5k in the render fund.
I have a bit of dilemma, I got a quote from a electrician about rewiring the bedroom that my eldest son would be moving into. I need a new electric box as mine is old, no problem with it but it is very old. was quoted £760 for the room the be rewired with 2 additional sockets being added and then a new electric box. I also asked for a quote for a full rewire which has came in at £3400 which is around the average price, this includes adding 2 additional sockets in each of the rooms and putting down lighters in the kitchen and taking away the light in there altogether. He reckons it would take a full day which I would need to take a day off which would be fine and obviously every room would need to be redecorated. I think I've made peace that it needs done but I really don't want to touch my bedroom, I love my bedroom and had no intentions of redecorating. I have spare wallpaper and I wonder if a decorator could match up the paper for the bits that need to be cut away. Honestly it's the only issue as we had plans to redecorate the other boys bedroom, the living room and the kitchen and eventually the hallway but its the my bedroom is stopping me a bit.
If I get the full rewire then it's all done and doesn't need to be done again I suppose.........Has anyone done a full rewire of their house whilst they were living there????
Need to nip to homebargains after I've done the nursery run, need dog food, toothbrushes, hooks, deodorant for hubby and shampoo and conditioner for me so hopefully keep it low on the spends.NEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.053 -
I think I would be tempted to bite the bullet and have the whole re-wire done and get it over with. The price sounds very reasonable. Worth seeing if you could patch up your bedroom wallpaper. We had a new boiler, central heating system, bathroom, kitchen and some re-wiring done all at the same time 4 years ago while still living in the house. A bit challenging at times but worth it in the end. I wish I’d pushed for a full re-wire at the time because some rooms still need doing.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
