Brilliant news on Abbies car sounds wonderful, your such a lovely mum I bet she's thrilled. I've had 4 driving tests cancelled due to lockdown! So I understand the frustration.
There is a huge backlog on tests in uk so I would book a test date on DVLA  if you can now, so let's say you think it will be x months before she's ready then book it, I don't know what it's like your way but it's July earliest round here. If not ready for the date you booked you can move it/change it 8 times without charge. Its about £60.
    Sam x
we've been trying to get her a slot since December, we were lucky enough to get her a theory test in London when she accompanied her boyfriend for his operation but she failed by 1 point, considering we sprung it on her the week before so not a lot of prep time but getting one up in Scotland is a nightmare, hubby checks every day for her.  Will need to look into the driving test she's aiming for September at the latest but thanks for the heads up Sam, with a date set she might be determined to hit a target

Still doing amazing as always. I really need to take a leaf out of your book with the getting quotes in. I want to completely refurbish the bedroom, no idea how much I need to save and never will know unless I get quotes 🙄

    morningma

been a productive one so far did my 30 minutes on the crosstrainer whilst everyone was sleeping, grabbed a shower got the kids up for school, dropped the wee dude off at school, dropped off a avon at the school gates, came home cleaned the breakfast bar that seems to be a dumping zone, I can now actually see the surface now.

I have done the banking and took advantage of the no council tax month so I have £419.05 in my home improvement fund.  It's nice to log onto my banking and see the £5k in the render fund.

I have a bit of dilemma, I got a quote from a electrician about rewiring the bedroom that my eldest son would be moving into.  I need a new electric box as mine is old, no problem with it but it is very old.  was quoted £760 for the room the be rewired with 2 additional sockets being added and then a new electric box.  I also asked for a quote for a full rewire which has came in at £3400 which is around the average price, this includes adding 2 additional sockets in each of the rooms and putting down lighters in the kitchen and taking away the light in there altogether.  He reckons it would take a full day which I would need to take a day off which would be fine and obviously every room would need to be redecorated.  I think I've made peace that it needs done but I really don't want to touch my bedroom, I love my bedroom and had no intentions of redecorating.  I have spare wallpaper and I wonder if a decorator could match up the paper for the bits that need to be cut away.  Honestly it's the only issue as we had plans to redecorate the other boys bedroom, the living room and the kitchen and eventually the hallway but its the my bedroom is stopping me a bit.

If I get the full rewire then it's all done and doesn't need to be done again I suppose.........Has anyone done a full rewire of their house whilst they were living there????

Need to nip to homebargains after I've done the nursery run, need dog food, toothbrushes, hooks, deodorant for hubby and shampoo and conditioner for me so hopefully keep it low on the spends.
