  • Fsdss Thanks for your appology I appreciate I may seam ''agressive''

'' Well knaffed off'' is probably nearer the mark

I do tend to get sarcastic in the face of pompossness - Well practiced on the Headmaster at our school lol - I used to be polite and aqueessant at ''authority'' and ''proffesionalisum'' but got no where

Can I suggest The Dr Christopher Green book for a good compliation of reserch also the ADDIS web site has a good referance section and special facilities for reserchers

If you are going to do a thesis can I suggest on line help groups for ADHD - real life parents doing this day in day out - I would be happy to run serveys on my group for you as I sure many other group leaders would.

And to again be agressive -- My personal opnion is that yes alot of cases of ''MY child has ADHD'' are the reslut of crap parenting looking for an excuse

its only just at the thinking out loud stage at the mo. it depends on the finances and IF i can get authorisation from my boss, and also from the uni (for credit), but the latter is the least of my concerns. The gp i work with seemed very interested in my suggestion however he is more interested in holistic approaches/ complimentary therapy than in general medicine on this one.

i have a whole day of study tomorrow so will tap into my online book references and see if i can order that book you suggest

unfortunately i cannot link any other recent literature / research evidence on here today as i only have works access to such material and it is obviously copywrited and also my work pick up the bill for accessing.

Hello again, just thought I would post a quick update as promised. It's quite a while since my original post, and after reading all the replies, I decided to speak to my sons doctor, and took with me a list of things I was concerned about. From there we were referred to a childrens centre nearby, and finally had our appointment this week.

The doctor there spent about an hour with DS, checked him over phsysically and set him little tasks to do to see how he would respond. She feels there is no problem with his physical or mental development, no hearing problems etc, but she does feel that his symptoms are indicative of an attention deficit disorder.

So we have been sent home with some forms to fill in, plus some for his school to fill in, and we will be seen again in 6 months to see how things are progressing. At that stage we will then begin to look at ways of treating/dealing with his behavioural problems.

So, not much will happen for 6 months, it's really just a case of carrying on with the things we are already doing, but I feel so relieved that the problem was taken seriously, and that things are now in place to help DS. I was also amazed by how nice they were to us - I had been worrying for so long that I was having nightmares about the doctor saying 'Oh it's just because you are terrible parents and you're not fit to have a son, so we are going to take him away from you'. Silly I know. :o

Anyway, just wanted to thank you all again, as I don't think I would have dealt with it without the information and support you have given me.
