Tesco Iphone4 Problems Missing calls Etc

I purchased an IPHone 4 from tesco on a one year contract with the phone costing not far off £400.
I have had the phone for approx 2 months and have noticed that the phone would not ring but then later in the day I would get three voice mails from missed calls. In the begining I put this down to the possibility that either I must have been in a bad spot when the call came through and so it went to voicemail, or perhaps I had accidentally put the phone on silent and hence missed the calls.
However it slowoly started to dawn on me that maybe it is a problem with the phone, so I have had it on my desk and it clearly shows full signal, yet still i get voice mails (three today) and the phone never rings. In addition I sent an email at eth weekend from the phone and the same email just kept getting sent over and over again.
Clearly there is a problem with the firmware or software on the phone. I called Tescos and the best they can do for me is that I send them phone to them and they "repair it". In the meantime I just live without a phone until they fix it.
Im stunned that they sell me an extremely expensive phone that clearly has a problem and expect me to just do without wheil they try and sort it.
Has anyone else had this problem with Tesco mobile? Any suggestions on what my rights are?
Thanks
john

i have this with my iphone.
the issue was with using 3g, when i turned 3g off, i always got the calls come through. Just the browsing was slower.
Now 0range and tmobile have done some sharing deal, i accepted the update and enabled 3g again and no issues now.0 -
Forget going tesco for handset problems with iPhone.
Firstly do a back up in iTunes and restore phone to factory settings and the restore your content from a backup.if that does not fix it book appointment at genius bar they will more than likely just renew your phone apple cust service in my experience is very good.0 -
My wife's 3GS does this. I think a trip to the Genius bar may be in order for her, too.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

A quick update on my ongoing problems with the new Iphone4 and specifically Tesco lack of support.
Last call I made to Tesco i was told that the only thing they can do about my problems is that I send back the handset and just wait for them to repair it and just make do with no phone.
I explained this was not good enough and asked for a supervisor to call me back. As expected no call was received and after a week I got a txt message from Tesco mobile that stated "to get blackberry service you need to opt in to Blackberry bolt on". Great i thought they are going to switch me to a Blackberry tariff and I can go back to my BB and forget this IPHone that has clearly been released to early and not tested properly.
I rang Tesco "support" again today and spoke to Ben Lasco who told me that I should ignore the text message I received from them as "this was just a random message they send to all customers and they cant tell who has a Blackberry or an Iphone" (his exact words).
he looked on the system and said he could see a note of my original complaint and that it had been escalated. Great I said then why has nobody called me back?
After checking he advised that "the person who took my last call stated on the system that she had escalated the problem but that the supervisor cannot find her email so now they will call me back in the next 48 hours"
Ben cant understand why I am getting upset! The problem is becoming less about the poor quality of the Iphone4 and more about Tesco lack of concern about their customers.
Poor effort from Tesco. Presumably they have outsourced the support to a compnay who care little for their reputation.
BTW to add insult to injury I then saw a piece on Watchdog showing people who were complasining about the fact that when the clocks went back the Iphone 4 did not adjust the alarm settings so peoples alarms did not go off the next day.0 -
What is it you would like Tesco to do?
To me, offering a repair would seem 'standard procedure' for any purchase which has become faulty.
Are you after a replacement? If so you can get one under the Apple warranty, as explained above. Or is there something else you would like? Perhaps a credit to your account.0 -
tesco support is pants takes ages to get through and most of their so called advisers don't know what they are talking about!!!
one told me to go to apple store and hope they will just replace it!!!
about a month ago my phone 3gs(10 months old) was getting hot during charge and battery dying completely within 2 hours from a full charge and i hadn't even used the phone
its ok now still gets hot now and then but battery is normal
any advice welcomeHonesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0
