Did you remember to update Malwarebytes first before running a scan?

Maybe best to leave it tomorrow as a full scan could take a while unless you are a night bird AmySquash.

Did you use the Norton Removal Tool?
Why not keep it simple and begin with a clean install? Another 512MB module of RAM would also bring it up to speed.

What is the full model number? Perhaps beginning with PSA or similar.

I used norton uninstaller - which i assume is the same thing?

Sorry - I dont understand what you mean by start with a clean install??

Id rather not buy more memory if I dont have to!
  • I only installed malwarebytes yesterday - do I still need to update??

No - sadly Im not a night bird - but I have started the scan already (oops) and I cant leave the laptop out as my daughter will see it - so I will just have to use matchsticks to keep my eyes open tomorrow!!!
  • Ive stopped using firefox and opened explorer - it seems I am used IE7. However I have reset to default settings.
  • Looking at taskmanager - the toshiba process using alot of memory are: ToshHKCW.exe (468kb) TOSCDSPD.exe (328kb) and thats about all I can see on there.
