She need to move!
Depending on where she lives(?) it should be possible to find something better for that money."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

This HMO is in a very nice location at £360 including all bills: http://www.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare/flatshare_detail.pl?flatshare_id=1014429&search_id=40551165&city_id=&flatshare_type=offered&search_results=%2Fflatshare%2F%3Fsearch_id%3D40551165%26&
It's worth getting a loan to move, seriously... why would you keep paying out money for that kind of situation?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Upon looking at that, the page offered this as well

£330 pcm inc bills and they're looking for a female too. There are some photos and it's a double room. Looks pleasant enough
Inside this body lays one of a skinny woman
but I can usually shut her up with chocolate!
When I thank a post in a thread I've not posted in,
it means that I agree with that post and have nothing further to add.

Yeah - that is a cheaper area of the city (one of only two council estates) and is much further from the centre. But again, much nicer than where she currently is!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Yup, from sound of where she currently is does not sound good.
I really never knew that renting a room was so prolific. I looked to see if there was any rooms in my tiny village and there are 2 (not HMOs though).
She should definately vote with her feet. Regardless though I still think the env health bods should be called in. If absolutely terrible and LL not complying they will take over the running of it in extreme cases.Inside this body lays one of a skinny woman

i have contacted the hse and enviro people myself, she isnt a student and the money she pays makes it hard to save, her family live miles away so not an option, i am saving some money for a deposit for her, and offered her to stay at my place but it is a bit early to be staying/living with me. thank you for the advice though.0

This might have been mentioned already but she pay's extra to use anything not in her room?
Maybe I'm just not understanding how it works. When I've lived in a shared place either it included all bills or we all paid a share.
EDIT: this has already been answered.0 -
i know its strange, everything is extra. the kitchen, bathroom even the lights outside her room are on a seperate meter.0
