I think you are looking at the dress in a very critical way....as it stands at the moment then yes I can see why you think its a bit "prom" but thats possibly because you dont have any wedding accessories with it...what will make it lovely is when those bits and pieces are all together and you've got your hair done too!
I perhaps also think its the shoes that make it seem more prom....if it were me I would have a different pair of shoes...

I think the dress is really nice, though I would agree with the comment about the top layer - again my own personal view. I don't think the photo is particlularly flattering though but just standing like that is never going to make for the best pic anyway! Because you're against other dresses it isn't easy to see your waist, and from the side on pic we can see how slim you are.
As for it looking like a prom dress, I wouldn't think that at all. Apart from the fact it is white, you've got to remember that by the time you've got something in your hair, and some flowers/button bouquet, whatever you will look every inch a bride :)

thank you so much for all the proper opinions! This is just what i needed!

What i really need to do is find another shop that stocks short dresses, but with a better neck line then.

I quite wanted to order this one:f_650641.jpg

but i worry about buying something off the net that i've not tried on!

Nail polish is part of the rimmel 60 seconds range by the way! I'm wearing a rather fetching pale grey today!

I think the waist may be a bit high which is what is making you look bigger, its a very nice dress but I think you could find a more flattering style for you

Just had another look at your photos...the dress thats hanging up behind..did you try that on?..I think its lovely and would flatter your figure and suit you colouring...but I appreciate its not at all like the style you have on so maybe not what you have in mind.

    OK, my reactions:

1st photo: WHAT is she worried about?? She's got a tiny waist and is blessed with curves, ifyaknowwhaddamean!

2nd photo: first thought - hmm, waist does look slightly bigger from the front, maybe it's the fullness of the skirt? Nope, actually it's the neckline - doesn't show off the bust, which detracts from her overall shape.

I reckon go for a lower cut V-neck or, even better, sweetheart neckline, and you'll show off your amazing hourglass figure and knock hubby's socks off! ;)

Oh, and definitely get some more kick-@ss shoes, maybe in red? :D

thanks everyone, lovely comments, i'm all red!

I agree now about the neckline, it makes much more sense to me now you've all said it.

The thing is, I'm only blessed with top curves, not bottom curves. my waist is really hardly any narrower than my hips at all, which is why I'm faking it with all the puff!!

LEJC, i did indeed try that dress on, but i didn't like the fussyness of it. At first i thought it would be alright without the sleeves, but actually it was just too busy. I love the plainness of the other dress so much that the lace looked too much. I know, i'm weird!

I'm going to be honest too....

I dont like the neckline, the way the straps sit on your shoulders and then the line across your widesnt point where the skirt starts make you look really square.

A more sweetheart shape or v shape will be so much more flattering on you.

Have you spoken to a dressmaker about possibly getting one made?

A strapless or v neck dress with a definite waist band would suit you a lot better i think...
