Sold out in my Local. The extra large pumkins are 2 for £3.00 or £2.50 each. Think I'll try Asda.

  • Bought 2 for 3 pounds yesterday at Tesco - the label on them said extra large, but they are what I would consider to be large.
  • Tried to obtain a 50p pumpkin (as advertised on TV, seen on MSE etc) multiple times at the local Tesco Extra, they had none and never had any!

They also didn't even have any at surrounding Tesco stores. The Tesco attitude is very "don't care".

Now a pumpkin at Asda is £1; seems to me Tesco are attempting to get people to go into their stores for 50p pumpkins that either don't exist or are in extremely short supply.

Then surprise, surprise they want to sell you two for £3 working out at £1.50 each i.e. 50p more than Asda.

Ended up going to Asda in the end who didn't even have any £1 pumpkins left at the time so bought an edible one for 87p! Not as big as the £1 ones but still a decent size and a nice shape.

Could we complain? That bloody advert on telly is always on saying their pumpkins are 50p each. I have seen that advert about 20 times over the last few days. It's not on. Don't advertise offers that do not exist!
  • Aldi are also selling large pumpkins for 99p.
  • I would like to add that on Saturday morning, there were no pumpkins at 50p but on offer at 1.50 at New Milton Tesco.

This despite being advertised at 50p the night before on the television.

Am I alone in wondering whether this was offered as a bait to the thrifty shopper? I got one later at the market for 50p and bigger than the Tesco version too.

I added an 'Extra large' one to my online shop as no 50p ones available! I'd say the one I rec'd was more medium. Disappointing, I thought extra large would be big enough to put on my head, lol.

I ordered one during the week for home delivery and it was substituted for an EXTRA large pumpkin, price should have been £1.99 (only charged 50p), i wonder what a small pumpkin would be maybe grapefruit sized !, the sizing scale is interesting :)
  • We were at Castle Lane Bournemouth Tesco by 10.30am today and they were "sold out". By 10.30am? Seems to me there couldn't have been many in the first place.

We bought ours from Lidl in the end. Decent size, £1 each.
