Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 24th October 2010. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
No-one else here? Can't believe that this has been started earlier - must be these dark mornings.
I've got my flask of soup packed and am off to Sheffield for the day (work). Managed to make my breakfast last night before I went to bed (boiled chopped egg and mayo) and even managed not to eat it before I went to bed!!
Hope everyone's day is good.

Gers its chilly in Sheffield , I am just defrosting my car , I think they said on the telly its minus 5
off to work in a mo doing some overtime this week :j the DD's both coach gymnastics and they have to do courses to enable them to coach ( it has cost me over £500 in the last 3 months -hopefully that will be it for a while ) so the overtime is much needed

Morning everyone. Loads of money saving going on here this week. Its half term week and I've booked to take the children to Haven in Lincolnshire. A couple of my friends and their children are going too - so saving money on babysitters and nights out - by having nights in with the girls whilst the children sleep (run wild!).
Cooked loads of meals for the freezer yesterday so more MS and we're all taking a couple of meals with us to the holiday park - more MS!!! Should be a lovely week. Will clean the place before I leave so its nice to come back to. Also taking cakes and as much out of the cupboards as I can! Dawn just breaking - not sunny, but doesn't look frosty yet. Managed to get everything up on ebay that I wanted to - so hopefully will make some pennies that way!!
Need more coffeeeeeeeeeMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Glad to say im feeling a lot better today, so will be cracking on with the housework, and getting back on track hopefully:)
Noone else is up yet, so im going to have half an hour with a cup of coffee and catching up on the boards, and then get moving ~ Promise!

Morning all,
Blooming cold here , I wike in the night to have a drink of the water I always take up to bed, and the water was icy cold, bit of a shock in the early hours
I have towels in the wm, will hang them on the line in a while, the washing is just about drying at the moment, a night on the airer seems to finish it off, long may this weather continue.
DD is still in bed (half term here) so will let her have a lay in for a bit longer, then today we are going to move her room about, we are going to try the bed in a different place, will also take the chance to give it a good clean, and declutter.
Roast lamb for dinner tonight, so will go and prep the spuds and veg in a while, I have also removed some apple and plum from the freezer, so will make a crumble.
Need to hoover through and tidy and clean kitchen, also will ring my mum and see if she wants anything, she has got flu, and sounds terrible, if she does I will just drop it in, dont want to stay and catch anything
OK better get on, have good days xx0 -
Morning All
Cold here, OH rang about an hour ago and told me it was -4
Got the slow cooker on the go with braising steak, onions, carrots and a bit of broth mix, hopefully I should get 6 portions out of that, tight month this month as just got paid and am about £200 down due to being off sick. Still, since we both decided to lose weight, we eat a lot less
I am happy with the weight I am now but OH still wants to lose more, am very proud of him as he has lost 3 stone now, it's really funny when he bumps into people in the town who haven't seen him for a while.
Had a very unproductive weekend, OH was ill on Saturday, I spent the day looking after him and trying to fix my sewing machine. He's better, the sewing machine isn't
Yesterday was just the usual ironing, cleaning etc.
Best get going, work calls.
Have a good day whatever you are doing xxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Hello all on this chilly Monday morning!

Half term here, too, & got loads of cleaning, tidying, Christmas prep planned - 18 yr old DS will be helping/babysitting quite often! :rotfl:
Also want to move littlies into bigger back bedroom & DS into small front room - he wants/needs a new bigger bed, tv & shelving on the wall. That will have to wait until after Christmas unless money improves ASAP.
I've seen some fleece PJs for kids in Pr!mark, so will see if I can get some for the babies - upstairs is cold at the best of times, never mind when the temp drops.
Off for another cuppa to warm me up, then brave the icy bathroom!:D
Have a good morning all, see you later, hugs & kisses all round.

Morning all
Heavy frost here this morning but lovely and bright - DH said it was -3 when he got in from work about 2am.
Off today (working tuesday-friday this week) and have a few MS jobs to do in a lovely place along the coast so I'll potter about here and then head out about lunchtime to make sure everywhere has thawed out!
Have some braised mince left from yesterday so I think I'll make some pies with it and have those for dinner tonight with chips and beans.
Just made another appointment for DS1 at the dentist - think he has dry socket and has been really sore all weekend. But they should be able to get him some relief.
Kids are watching TV in the living room, I'm hiding in the kitchen and DH and DS2 are still in bed. Another coffee for me before I attempt anything I think!
Enjoy your days xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness
