Second job tax code?
Comments
-
Hi, I'm going to be taking a 6 month unpaid leave from my job. During this time I'll not be entitled to any sick leave and I will not be accuring any annual leave. My tax code is 810L and I my salary comes to approximately £30.000 a year.
During this time off I intend to work in the pub, earning £7 per hour and work unspecified amount of hours ( likely 40 odd hrs a week)
I'm confused about my tax/tax code.....will I get P45 from my current employer? If not will my pub job clasify as a 2nd job (BR tax code @20%?)
 Thanks
 Xyz
You will only get a P45 if you resign/leave.
If you are staying employed but on unpaid leave then your pub job will be a second job and so you will be taxed on 20% on BR plus normal NI0

Thank you for the quick reply....just one more thing....
There is a strong possibility that I'll resign from my current employment during the 6 month leave....from the tax/money saving purposes it would appear the sooner I do it, the sooner my pub job will get better tax code/tax allowance?
 Thank you0

I have no idea whether is a good thing to resign as I don't know anything about the job or your circumstances
but if you resign you will get a P45 which you then give to your new employer and as taxed in the normal way with a tax allowance.0
