Losing weight to get pregnant

Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me at the min.
I have PCOS, I am over weight and need to take clomid in order to ovulate. I have previously taken Clomid approx 7 years ago while I was married but due to separate beds they didn't work :rotfl:
We are getting married next September and want to properly start trying then. I have been to see my consultant and he was not happy with me taking them now as they would be less affective because of my weight. This came as a real blow as we had wanted to start trying and its took 4 months for me to come to term with the fact my weight is the only thing standing between me and us having a family. I have been pregnant before, twice, both unsuccessful more than 10 years ago while at the start of the relationship with my ex husband. I didn't have any PCOS probs then.
I have about 4 stone to lose and my consultant will happily let me have Clomid. In total I would need to lose 8 stone but 4 is the magic number apparently lol
I have been watching what I eat, OH is being healthy too, and I've lost just over 1 stone and dropped from a size 24 to a size 20/22 (depending )
Is anyone else or has anyone else been in the same situation as me? x

Well done on the 1 stone already lost!

I'm not in the same situation but just wanted to say that you'd be surprised how quickly the weight will come off once you really commit to trying.
Are you doing any exercise as well as healthy eating? Exercise will help dramatically.

i will be in a similar position next year but without the pcos and clomid. im seriously over weight and although i would love to start a family, there is no way its healthy for me or any bubs to get pregnant at this weight.
the first stone is always the hardest, just take it 7lbs at a time and get yourself a treat every 7lbs, even if its a manicure or magazine or a book or somehting that you enjoy but dont get to do on a regular basis.
well done on the 1st stone and good luck

Good for you on the first stone!
I myself had no problems getting pregant with either of my 2 girls, but a friend of mine had the same problem as you. She lost a bit of weight, not as much as hoped before taking the clomid. I think she cut out carbs completely as a way of dieting. She'd been trying to get pregnant for about 4 years. Anyhow, she took the clomid and 2 months later was pregnant! Good luck, keep going and one day you will have your own beautiful little baby to hold. xx

Firstly well done for losing that first stone!
If you're PCOS and overweight, the best thing you can do for yourself apart from exercising is cutting back on the carbohydrates and replacing with fruit (not to sweet though) and veg. Appying GI principals will help, this means ditching any refined carb as this just leaves you craving more. My suggestion is that you eat limited quantities of couscous / bulgar wheat if you feel a carb craving come on, or go out for an hour's brisk walk, you'll feel miles better and the wieght will just melt away.
Good luck!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks for all the replies xx
I have cut down dramatically on carbs, exercising is a problem as I have Fibro and I'm very sore. I would love to go on a big walk every day as we live in the country and have lovely walks.
BUT for the first time in about 10 years I exposed some naked flesh and got myself into a swin suit! Myself, OH and a good friend hired a local private pool for an hour and it was grand. I was surprised at myself being so brave but I was the brave one in the relationship for a change as my OH was so very nervous god love him as he is very self concious and can't swim.
Bit sore tonight though but thought I would be xx0 -
Hi
as this thread isn't really a moneysaving thread and is discussing medication (which isn't allowed on MSE), I'll close it
but for support and advice why not join the trying for a baby thread
