These type of confrontations are classed as assault!
If some one feels that they are in danger of being assaulted, you as the agressor can be charged and convicted of assault, a CRIMINAL offence! Is it worth it?

Do you honestly believe if you dialled 999 and said someones told me to move my car , I want them arrested for assault that they would actually even turn up (except to maybe to have a world with you for wasting their time)

That would be obstruction, and the police would have you move it or charge you!

Have you got a driving licence?

Maybe you should read up on the Highway Code.

Im fairly sure its not, I seem to remember reading on here that you don't own the road and it perfectly legal to park in front of someone driveway.

If you knew the time and waste of money I have experienced,(personally),for the last 4 months, then yes they would attend, it does not have to be a 999 call, they would know were you live and could phone the police when they are away from you and not in fear!

    Believe me it happens.

Just live and let live, you don't have the right tp park outside your own house.

Do you ever park outside someone else's house whilst working, whether the house is the one you are working at or not? It happens all the time, live with it.

Well you are at least you are now acknowledging the fact that YOU do not own the road.

If you block someones drive it IS obstruction and the police will/should do something about it, I know from personal experience, (again), as I have called them several times over the last few years due to new inconsiderate neighbours and their visitors.

You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.

I do live with it but it still drives me mad.
Believe it or not Derrick, Im actually a considerate guy, I would never block anyone access, drive or park outside their house intentionally.

I don't see why people can't just have a little bit of respect for others, if you pulled up outside your home with a boot full of shopping and it was tipping it down and you see me sat there in my car with my feet up eating a burger then I honestly wouldn't take offense if you asked me to move so you didn't have to park half a mile away and get soaked carrying your shopping up the road.

Yes, you have no 'right' to park in front of your home, but with the volume of traffic on the roads then something should be done about it.

Reading up on the drive way thing, I believe its currently NOT against the law to park in front of drive with no motors on it ... which again is another daft law.

Not the way your posts are coming across! See reply#52.

It isn't really a case of having "little bit of respect for others", it is how the law works, the guy eating the burger has every right to park were he is as long as no laws are being broken.

Re your last paragraph, it can depend on the local police's interpretation, but round here they take it as obstruction whatever.
Take your scenarist, no cars on the drive, but there are driveway gates half way up the drive, (as in my case), which are shut, and/or a garage with the doors closed, what is to say there is not a vehicle there that cannot be seen? Your comment from your first paragraph;- "I would never block anyone access, drive or park outside their house intentionally", cuts no ice as it will/may have been done UNintentionaly!

If you are," Im actually a considerate guy ", then common sense would dictate that you would not park across a driveway, and if you truly believe that,"I personally feel that as a home OWNER and tax payer I should be able to come home and park outside my own property.", (from your post #37), then surely you should not park across driveways, as what you would then do would be obstruction, (illegal), but someone parking outside your house breaks no laws!

    ASK THE POLICE

Q440: Someone has parked his or her car and it is blocking my driveway;-

If the vehicle is blocking access to your driveway then you should first make enquiries with the neighbours to see if they know who the car belongs to. If no one knows, then you should contact the police who will attend to the matter as soon as they are able.
Policy may vary from force to force, some forces may only attend if your car is blocked in and you cannot get out.

I never park outside random peoples houses I have no need to, I also never block driveways I was hypothetically speaking/typing...

To be honest Derick, you are not speaking from experience by the sounds of it, you have a driveway and no doubt 99.9% of the time giving you clear access to your home.
A lot of people don't have driveways and are affected by inconsiderate law abiding people.

I'm sure you would feel very different if you were put out daily.

I might seem like I'm being overly passionate about this, but I guess its just one of those things that constantly happens and just annoys me as it directly happens to me.

Hmmm, so in some counties you can legally park in front of someones driveway.
Again, perfectly legally but that not very considerate is it ?
