I went to Lakeside store yesterday and found nothing worth buying - though I popped into LilleyWhites next door - where they seem to have a real 70% sale with loads of items at ridiculously cheap prices. Thumbs up Lilleywhite's and Thumbs down to allders !To infinity and beyond!0

I was told today that the stores have been bought to be turned into other department stores (House of Fraser, Debenhams etc), so everything will eventually be reduced in order for it to be sold. Not sure how much the till lady really knew but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to pop in every few days. She said if I have my eye on something to phone first and ask if it's been reduced.
Choc0 -
Hi,
I went into Oxford Street today & was very disappointed. They had 10% off everything and a huge sign saying up to 70% off. I found it hard to find anything decent with even 20% off. I suspect the real reductions will come closer to the end in a few weeks time.0 -
Had a look in the Sutton one today.
Now unless there was a mad stampede yesterday and people bought like it was going out of fashion (which I seriously doubt) theres not a lot to get excited about.
Seems all the furniture, rugs and white appliances have gone from the shop floor. What furniture is left is shop damaged mostly.
Kitchen and cookware and bedding had been well picked over - as someone else said it looked liked a car boot sale
None of the franchises had sales so the only bargains to be had were on Allders own brand clothing and shoes and they did have to be searched for.0 -
we went to slough branch yesterday 70% off christmas candles?? what a load of baloney no wonder these stores are closing had a look at the bed linen and curtains the range like it was in the 80s wont be going there ever again!0

Went to the Portsmouth branch today not much worth buying in the sale. It's only their own goods with the 70% discount all other concessions will take their stock back!Nat0

Bromley was also a complete washout. Dont know if there were any genuine bargains . The store was completely full of people but no genuine bargains.Be Kind0

I think I'm going to move this thread to Gone but was it any good (no it wasn't
) as there doesn't seem to be any bargains to be had from this, judging by the reports.
Maybe when the closing stores get round to having something of a real closing down sale, then we can start another one. If that ever happens0 -
Don't expect all the stores to be having massive clearance sales.
I work for one of the retailers that's taking over 9 of the stores from the end of March..... and we're going to take on all the stock etc and run it pretty much as was.
You may find this with a majority of the stores!0 -
I have been told that the Ipswich alders branch will be closing on the 25th March. Also that currently mainly seaonal stock is in the sale, with smaller discounts on this seasons stock. Many concessions have had sales / last seasons stock shipped in for the sale. I got the impression that as there was not currently a buyer for the Ipswich store, that they were holding reductions on this seasons items back until they were certain the store would not be bought Lock, stock and Barrell. So I guess in this case the late bird may catch the worm !!0
