  • A very quiet day, DH went to deliver logs to parents and came back laden with turkey, ham, Christmas cake et.c.

Still we are playing the will-we-won't-we game. The state of the roads seems to depend on a degree either way.

DDs ecstatic with their presents, they have been playing all day. I've got three loads of washing done, but notalot else.

  • Well here we are, still no thaw, still getting telephoned every day by the outlaws to see if we are coming.

MIL thought we were going today, she sounds v.confused, she was slurring a bit, and having trouble hearing. Not good.

  • Well its nearly six and still waiting for DH to mention making the decision. Rain is falling but the temp mustn't be much above one degree.

NSD which is good and got loads of washing done, but there is always more. Apart from that, have done a lot of reading.

Noone is about still as its so cold and treacherous underfoot.

well my promised 8 inches turned into a mere 3 inches so i was very disappointed :( Then it got to about 4-5 degrees so the soft stuff melted and left puddles of slushy stuff all over the place. Temp now -2 and severe weather warnings in place for ice and stuff. Forcast tonight is for rain to fall on already frozensurfaces and turn to ice.

TBH I wouldn't fancy the roads if its like that where you are.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Take care on those roads if you do venture out.

  • Thanks, guys, well we woke up this morning and DH still hadn't said a word, so I suggested he take his non 4wd car out and see what it was like. He slipped all over the place, so decided himself that there was no way we were taking the DDs out in it. We will go tomorrow, which means a minimum 5 hr drive for me on two consecutive days, but better than having to have dinner with SIL!

gallygirl this is probably TMI, but the only time I have ever encountered more than 8 inches, I bottled out :rotfl:

Thanks, cath, LP and Jellie. Hoping you are enjoying today, hadn't realised it was another bank holiday.

DD2 and I have made stuffed peppers for lunch, DD1 has been doing painting by numbers, and we have saved £85.50 by only staying away one night.

We have all the packing to do, still, and lunches to make for tomorrow.

Excitingly, soon we can go and choose a puppy...
