I think BLW is a great idea, i've only heard good things about it. Have you exclusively breastfed up to now? That's fantastic! I weaned DD at 20 weeks and spent all my time after she had gone to bed pureeing fruit and veg! Was so time consuming especially as I was back at work.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

I did it as a mix of the two to be honest, so DS2 had been having some purees as I weaned more like 4 months, so just baby rice, simple purees such as apple, pear, carrot, swede etc, and I found he wasn't really keen, so as I was cooking for myself and DS1 anyway, I would give him a bit of something, like a homemade potato wedge, or a carot baton, or a cooked floret of broccoli or cauli. Basically stuff that they will 'gum' then it will pretty much disintegrate anyway so not really likely to choke. I then added stuff when they got a bit bigger, like toast soldiers, fruit loaf soldiers, and when DS2 got his pincer grip, he then got really good at all kinds you wouldn't expect, like whatever DS1 had (cheerios, cornflakes, fishfingers) he would be sat having too. When he was 18 months old he shocked me by eating prawns and all kinds of weird stuff, and he is less fussy than DS1. DS1 has always changed his mind a little about what he likes. He went through a phase of not wanting onion, then yesterday while eating a stir fry he says I don't like mushrooms now, but I will eat my onions today.
I remember as well, I'd got well into making soup, so i used to make up big batches of carrot and lentil, or butternut squash and lentil soup for us all, and he would eat the bread that had been dipped in it, and then I would spoon the rest in while he was doing that. He must have only been somewhere between 7 and 9 months then.0 -
Thanks michelle. I think a mix of the two sounds really the best bet - and it doesn't seem to have confused your DS.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

It is gorgeous here today. Chilly though as it is windy. I had a nice walk after dropping the kids off, and then the 2 runs back up the hill to pick the two smalls back up again.
Kitchen plans seem to be steaming ahead. Good luck with it all.0 -
