I've not heard about this before. I've been part of a Union for 4 or 5 years. Do you have any more information you can share?
Hi peonie if you ring tax office, they will give you the forms.Ah, i was aware about professional subscriptions but not unions. I probably pay around £220 a year in fees but I can't find any details on my payslip. I'm aware I can also claim laundry expenses and shoe costs.
I think I will investigate this further today.
I know people who claim for one labcoat a year.Right clearly I need to learn more about tax and what is/isn't deductible.
As a teacher what can I claim as a tax deductible item. I'm also probably going to tutor from September - can I claim anything extra for this? Thanks in advance guys. We are having a bit of a tight time financially so any help is gratefully received.
I bet lilac pixie would know if you can maybe get computer/textbook/advertising expenses?
Mad day, took car back (three things wrong with it) brekkie at MrS, bumped into old colleague who told me old sci dept just got inspected and only got satisfactory:eek: they ran out of bounty packs so I convinced them to give me a £5 clothing voucher for baby:money:(MrS, not the sci dept!)
came home and had coffee claimed £70 back off leccy bill, then back to get car, tried to put diesel in it and cap jammed...
back to garage again, honestly I should live there.
Went to homebase for mirror fixings and grout. Exhausted, but did convince garage to give us 10% off car seats which we might buy. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Hello,
I claimed back tax on my gtc membership this year, right back to when it started. They wrote back and said I could only go back seven years, but I got all the tax back on membership for the past seven years, although not in a nice cheque, but in a change to my tax code. The forms are on the gtc website.
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!

Happy anniversary, how many years?
we Celebrated 10 years last month and i was really disappointed, i was expecting 10 years to be something expensive, now i knew it wasn't going to be gold or ruby, but thought it might have been a nice semi precious gem, oh no when i checked it was TIN, hubby thought it was highly amusing and mas going to buy me a roll of tin foil, luckily for his own health he didn't.0 -

if you use the "modern anniversary gifts" list rather than the traditional one you receive diamond jewellery for 10 years! Our compromise for me was to re-cycle some diamonds into a new ring, very :money:.
Happy anniversary Grateful & hubbie, from a long time lurker!0 -
