If you get the house in Ireland you'll be able to practice it there ready for your forever home! :D And thanks (to Birdie too!) I'm happy it just doesn't look like a bomb has hit it anymore. The curtains are from Argos, they need either lining or a blind put behind them as they're sodding useless really. But it would look worse without them up! It's our spare room though, ours is a bit bigger. With a milky coffee colour on 3 walls, and 1 in a nice plum purple. My Sister says I'm going to turn into a mix of Bree from Desperate Housewives on Monica from Friends once the house is how I want it. I already get teased for scrubbing my front door step and washing down the gas meter housing :o But it gives a good house impression!

Poddle - I'd share before pictures too but it was my 'mess room'. You know how in Friends Monica's flat is spotless, but she has a closest just crammed with rubbish? :o Just like that.

And yay for winning! :j Re-invest, and go crazy with the 40p and buy some sour apple WHAM bars :D

Yes, I could defo practice there! OH is slowly coming round to the idea of buying it. The thing is he wants to knock down walls and put in bi-folding doors etc. Now I would have done that a few years ago but I don't think we would get the money back on doing that so would just want to make the most of what is there!

Ooh Dinah - hope it is you!!!

I reckon he knows, I also reckon he's lucky he doesnt work here as he'd have been tied to a chair and had his head shaved by now.
What sort of a child is he like, purely seeking attention.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

I love the feel of that room but it's more than a little warm in summer.

Maybe it's the colours, ours isn't even sun facing but is boiling in the sun! The colour we have is milky coffee from Wilkinsons, I put in on my blog and kept getting asks on Tumblr and emails from people asking if the picture I put up is true to life. (The photo used to come up if you searched it on google images) I felt like forwarding it all to Wilkinsons and saying 'Gimmie a cut of the sales!'

How amazing would it be if it was you?!!? Fingers crossed, and yes. I'd throw things at him too :D

I just had a thought. Feel free to tell me it's dumb. But you remember when we did the thread weight loss - a stone in 12 weeks I think it was - and we actually did pretty well all things considered. Well, so many of us are in a cash poor situation I wondered if we'd like another challenge as a thread for those who want to sign up? A race to clear £1000, or save £1000 if you're not in debt. This has to be over and above usual minimum payments/regular savings. Can be made in anyway you see fit (savings on spending, going out less, extra income earners) just so long as you actually put it in a seperate account/off the CC so you can see the balance rise or fall by £1000 when you announce you've won. We have some fantastic banter on this thread, but sometimes it feels like we don't make as much money headway as we'd like - maybe this would be the kick up the bum we need? If lots of people are away over the summer we could wait a while to start it, or we can start straight away if thats preferred. You can use the money at the end for whatever you like - a family holiday, decorating a spare room, moving to your own place, clearing a CC, it's up to you as this is windfall money you might otherwise not have earnt or just frittered away. Let me know if anyone would be interested in taking part in something like this.

We didn't win anything :( We only got the tickets by saying the ladies in Morrisons might mug him for his winning ticket.

I think it sounds like a great idea Dinah. I will try and make savings on my mobile phone, get OH to cancel his contact lenses and try and make as much money on AQA as possible.

I would be up for it!

Good idea Dinah. Have actually already been talking to OH to see if we can save some monthly money by reducing contracts on Virgin Media and his phone contract. Might take me a while to get to the £1000 as we have an expensive few months coming up but I certainly need a kick up the a**e!!
Would help a lot as well if our tax credits would hurry up and get sorted!! Lost of count of how many weeks we have gone without it now.

It will probably take me a while to get to it as well but I would like to start from today and pay an extra £1000 off OH's credit card, leaving him with a balance of £550 to get rid of, once the relocation money comes out of it.

Can we start from tomorrow CMD - I can set us all up this evening and give anyone else time to pitch in and join in.

I'm going to go with £1000 paid off our biggest CC. Like lots of others we have a very expensive few weeks (need to find about £1400 to pay for the holiday to France and some spending money in New York, and train tickets to London and a hotel in London) so I might be in the slow lane, but its all in the right direction.

    Afternoon all,

Cinny - the room looks fab, furniture is looking good too.

I didn't enter the lottery so sadly not me...

The challenge sounds good. Don't think i will be very fast as about to be on statutory maternity pay but will encourage me to save money and think of ways to make some. Would be good to have a bit extra saved so i can stay on maternity leave a little longer.

I did think that might be a reason for some to do the challenge - can't think of a better reason personally.

    So list so far:

    Dinah - £1000 to go
    CMD - £1000 to go
    Wendz - £1000 to go
    Flower - £1000 to go
    NIM - £1000 to go
    Birdie - £1000 to go
    Amy - £1000 to go

    Anyone else?

Would be so easy for me to say - I'll count the £1500 ish extra I need to save for the hlidays - but that would be really bad of me as it wouldn't make any actual difference to the debt! I thought I had loads of stuff to ebay but I seem to have lost it all lately, actually struggling to find things to list.
