Tete, that is TERRIBLE that you wouldn't want to date someone who's shorter than you!! It's the personality and chemistry that counts. But then I am a very small person (at 5'3") so I have to stick up for the leprechauns amongst us :P

I agree! but I am a very small person too :D Is it not worth a teeny tiny date, Tete? Dinah's friend sounds dreamy!

It's my last day at university and tomorrow is my last day of fieldwork yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! Then I have the whole weekend off. Shopping and Kampala hen party on Friday, going to the posh hotel swimming pool on Saturday, on Sunday going to do a horseback safari to see the source of the River Nile. It's a proper holiday - I'm so excited :j

That sounds brilliant Lara! It's nice when you've got lots of nice things ahead - holidays, coming home, weddings...!
Can I do a little plug here for my Race for Life page? - I will be attempting to run 5k this Saturday - previous personal best is only 3.6k, been blighted by colds and painful knees the last few weeks, but still hoping to run/jog the whole way - I know it's a debt board but if anyone can spare a couple of quid I'd really appreciate it!

Big big thank you to Poddle who already made a very generous donation! :kisses3:

You're very welcome - your post on FB coincided with me discovering a few quid in a dormant ING account, so I thought it must be fate.

Does that mean I'm a real bloke too?! I'll second thinking it's the brake pads. Sounds just like the noise Greg started making. Only I put up with the noise for 3 weeks until I gave in and order the new pads :o They're really easy to replace on your own though, we did it in like, 15 minutes. And now he stops me :T Although I do miss the thrill of wondering if he'd stop in time at the bottom of the big hill this village's on :D

Cinny, you crack me up! Glad Greg's got working brakes again, and fingers crossed it will be an inexpensive fix for Tete.

We're right in the middle of the literature festival again at work - it's a beautiful day and we've got Melvyn Bragg, Emma Bridgewater and Edmund de Waal so it should be good! But not nearly enough time for cups of tea and catching up on MSE gossip :)

PS. Hurrah for payday! And very exciting about your event tonight Dinah!

    Museum exhibition launch.

Going to the DVLA this afternoon to try and talk about my lack of tax disk, starting to get concerned that come Wednesday I'll be solely reliant on the train as we won't have a car!

Hope the lauch goes well! :)

Have you paid for the disc but it just hasn't arrived? If that's the case you'll be OK as you'll be in the system so you won't get done :)

Literature festival sounds lovely Poddle, much nicer than being stuck inside looking at tables I don't understand!

I'm off to a charity shop at lunch time hopefully to buy a quirky little table I saw there last night, it needs a lot of TLC and I was umming and ahhing for ages (it's only £5... but a fiver's a fiver!) but I couldn't stop thinking that I should have bought it as we need a little side table so if it's still there today I'm going to have to buy it. Then I'll be wondering how the heck do I make it happy again! My last attempt at upcycling an item of furniture was disastrous and sits in our bedroom as an ugly reminder of what not to do! :rotfl:

No, we've had no letter to get a disk, and we can't buy one without the letter. I'm querying if the garage registered that we bought it.

You can buy a tax disc without the reminder on the www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk website, you need the registration plate number and the V5C document number.

You should be able to buy at the post office by presenting the V5C documentation along with valid MOT and insurance. They should not really need the reminder. http://www2.postoffice.co.uk/counter-services/licences-vehicle-tax/vehicle-tax

Have donated a little something Tete, hope it goes well!

Lara- hope you have a good last few days, the horseback safari sounds amazing.

Dinah - yay for payday and the meal deals sound good.

I have managed to be pretty good moneywise this month, but have been somewhat busy so not surprising. Will have some money left over for my shopping spree to get myself some new clothes as i seem to have none.

V5C is the log book car registration document. It is was the government call it while we all know it as the log book.

Odd you don't have the log book for the car as you would need it to sell the car. You can get a replacement but they cost £25.
