Well they tested car and it is something to do with leaking coulant so got to take it to another garage next week as they couldn't do it. They didn't charge us to check it which was good.

Just had a look at the new blog, good luck with the dieting!

Sorry to hear about your Mums friend, hope she is ok.

Swinstie, I'm sure you'll be fine when you're debt free. Dinah, like she said, just had a lot of unplanned things happen to fudge up her plans. Everything you're thinking of for your house is ultimately just stuff, and really not worth getting into debt again over Just try and save for everything, and if you can't afford it go without a while longer. Congrats on almost being debt free though :D eep!

    Hey all

Dinah, I'm glad you got through the funeral okay - what a lovely idea that you and your brother were able to give your Gran something. I am going to OH's granddad's funeral on Tuesday. He's lost 3 close relatives since September; I feel so sad for him. It doesn't matter what age you are (he's 33) or they are, it's still a horrible time, but I'm hoping the funeral will be some comfort.

As always, am in awe of your plans and (not unfounded) optimism. Was the plan always that you would do up the house and move quickly? Sounds like you're v. well placed for a few big project houses as long as you're finding time to enjoy married life too! We've been in our flat nearly 3 years and getting quite itchy feet, but would like (need) to pay off a lot of the mortgage first. It's so frustrating to have debts at the moment as we could ploughing the money into clearing capital while the interest rate's so low, but never mind. We've rejigged our budgets and stuff so we're doing all we can, but definitely feel like we're learning the hard way.

Best of luck with your diet blog :) and hope all okay with your mum's friend x

We're using the increase in value in the house to pay chunks off the morgage - I don't think we'd be able to clear much any other way. Although atm we put about £700 from our wages into clearing debt, so clearly we could if we didn't have the debt.

Plan wasn't to move so quickly, we moved in planning on being here at least 5-7 years, but between the builder issues, the finances of it, the mould, and the kitchen being smaller than we're finding comfortable, we're both pretty up for moving.

NIM suprised me today, he'd organised to go down to York to meet one of my best friends who was one of my bridesmaids. So we had a lovely few hours with her, it was great to catch up, but I'm just so grateful that I'm blessed with a husband who would think to do something like that because he knew I was feeling down atm.

Friends mum has been released from hospital, no signs of epilepsy so the seizure is a mystery. Until she gets a referal to a consultant she can't be left alone, even to go to the loo or shower. So her daughter has become her shadow, she's supposed to be back at uni in a week or so, so I'm not sure whats going to happen with that.

Talking to my friend in York today, she asked me how ebay worked. Talking about it I realised that if we pulled our finger out and listed the stuff in our front room, the furniture in the shed, sorted out the attic, and got the 20 or so boxes of ebay stuff from mum and dads shed, we'd probably clear the credit cards and overdrafts. That really shook me, all this clutter we don't want, and a debt we need to clear, we just need to find the time to make it all balance!

What were her symptoms? And how did she feel after? I would personally say she doesn't need to be watched that month. Shower she'll be fine with, but bath is a no cigar. Epilepsy doesn't strike at every minute and if they've found no sign then they'll be looking at organic causes.

I've suffered with Non Epileptic (they think) seizures for nearly 5 years, if she sleeps well, eats properly and maintains good blood sugar she'll minimise most funny turns. And stress is a factor (isn't it always).

I can dig out some links if they'd like?

Her husband is a GP, but this is what they've been advised by the hospital until she sees the neurologist. What you say about diet is very interesting - I'd appreciate some links as I know she has barely eaten in the last week. I could send some to her daughter to make sure she eats the right things (or at all for that matter).

Basically she went down straight backwards in Tesco, remembers being in the vegetable section but was found in the freezer section, loss of bladder control, drained and achy, pain in her jaw, confused, about 2 1/2 hours very very patchy memory.

Can you drive Nym? She's had to surrender her licence for 6 months, to be reviewed then depending on what the neurologist says.

The funeral sounded lovely Dinah, it's nice that she has something from you and your brother with her, I hope that gives you all some comfort.

It's a shame that the house hasn't quite turned out as you wanted it to, I'd be really torn between selling and staying. There's no point living in a place that causes you stress and attacks everything with mould but the idea of moving again and all the cost it invovles would put me off!

Sorry to hear about your Mum's friend, at least one positive thing is that she fell backwards. My friend's sister has epilepsy and has a habit of falling forward when she has seizures, the last time I saw her her face was black and blue, poor thing. I hope it's just a one time thing that's been brought on by stress/ not eating and nothing more serious.

It was lovely of NIM to surprise you with a trip to see your friend, he does look after you! :)

What a lovely thing for NIm to do, very thoughtful!

Hopw you manage to find the time to do some ebaying as sounds like it would be beneficial.
