Yes closed is right - we need a full scan. Please update definitions and run a full scan. Remove anything it finds and post log here.
I asked for a quick scan to begin with, to remove some of the bad things quickly which I hoped may speed up your computer.0 -

I have now done a full scan and it didn't find a single thing!
It is definitely the avp.exe that is causing the high cpu usage and I am not sure what to do about that, but thanks for all your help.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
As posted remove kaspersky - there must be a conflict somewhere.0

as already suggested, either reinstall it, or install avast, it's clearly causing a problem as it is now.!!

Try uninstalling the current version of Internet Explorer so the previous version appears. I did this recently (rolled 8 back to 7) and my hanging cpu resolved itself.0

Thanks, could you please let me know how to do this.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I would personally go with closed technique of removing kaspersky first. And reinstalling it or avast (or personally avira). But do you use a paid kaspersky?0

Yes, I bought a disk from Amazon only a couple of months ago. It is the 2010 version and not nearly as good as the 2009 one that I had before.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
That is annoying... well I guess, start by uninstalling it. See if that makes a difference to the CPU. If it does...0
