Kaspersky 2011 is out now and can replace your 2010 version until licence expires .
Slower since 2009 most definitely .
Ranked in roughly the same position as its always been on my AV ratings at number 2 > Eset Nod 32 still number 1 Avast free is way down my rankings .
Rankings based on two years AV Comparatives data Advanced + ratings with a weighting for the more recent tests .

I bought my Kaspersky 2010 on disk from Amazon, so presumably cannot update to the 2011 version. However, if I my understanding is wrong and I can, please tell me how to do this - thanks.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I think the culprit causing these problems is a thing called avp.exe so can I get rid of this and how do I do it?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

How is the malwarebytes scan going?
I would want you to run malwarebytes first then hijackthis.
Download HijackThis 2.0.4 - FileHippo.com Download and Install. Click on top button. After a few seconds a log will be generated which needs to be posted on this log.0 -

I did install the malwarebytes and do a scan and it found 4 infected things which have been deleted - thanks for that.
Trouble is the computer is still slow and going up to 100% CPU and I have tracked it down to AVP.EXE. Do you think I can get rid of this somehow?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I would still like to see the log. Open malwarebytes and go to logs tab. Top dated one is the log. Please copy into here.
AVP.exe is something to with kaspersky or a trojan according to google... therefore I wouldn't want to stop it if it was kaspersky. Or if closed is happy to remove kaspersky, then go ahead.
Run hijackthis (instructions above) and post that log here too.
I expect two logs in the next post!0 -
