Went over my minutes on Vodafone -- anything I can do?

Although I am generally totally unimpressed by vodafone, I have little sympathy for people who exceed their bundles and then blame the network - whichever one it may be. I currently operate nine contracts and have done so (on average) for several years. During those years I've only exceeded the bundles on any of them once or twice and then by minutes - certainly not hours. Whenever I get a new contract (which is often since I never continue them after the initial contract term) one of the first things I do is establish the bundle date and set the recorder on the particualr phone accordingly. I never rely on text messages or checking what I've used with the network. It isn't rocket science to stay within your bundle; it's YOU.0

The samething has happened, but on the vodafone website it says when i am near my limit i will recieve a text message, I recieved a message after I went over by £80 exc vat which will add it up to £100 inc vat, I went over by 4 hours. I have been with vodafone since feb 11, but after this, I will Never go back on vodafone. I WOULDN'T ADVISE ANYONE TO USE THEIR NTWORK. How are they willing to charge so much for going over your contract by 4 hours yet they are unwilling to pay their taxes. I usually have 100 minutes left after each month, so this is a big shock to me. They have even charged me, for calling their customer service line, when they sent a text to me, saying it is free to call in.
It's free to call 191 - what number did you dial. What tariff are you on? As others on here have said, it's not hard to find out where you are re: minutes. 44555, the website, the app if you have a smartphone, or call up and ask them. They aren't baby sitters.0 -
@ mobilejunkie
I know that its my fault for going over my minutes, paying back the £80 is no biggy, however because i usually go under my contract minutes by 100 minutes, i don't usually check how much minutes i have left.
But what vodafone could have done, like other mobile networks is let their users know that they are coming near to their limit, why would that be difficult for vodafone to do. But some other networks can inform their loyal customers who always makes their payments ontime that their near their limit???
@that sean
vodafone had sent me a text message stating two numbers that i can call them on for free, which I did and they charged me for making that call, so im going into one of their store and show them the message, so they can remove that charge off my bill.0 -

More to the point, they make plenty of money from people that don't keep an eye on their usage going over their minutes so it's not really in their interest to stop you, they exist to make money remember. But some other networks can inform their loyal customerswho always makes their payments ontime that their near their limit???0 -
I love the payment one,, as if you're doing someone a favour by paying the bill on time. Anyhow, some people refuse to accept that they are responsible, end of.0

If I believed that I was not responsible for the over use of minutes, I would have never paid the bill off.0

Good idea, until the next time you try for credit & find your credit references have been trashed caused by non payment of a bill
At least it would save on overcharges as a replacement contract phone would not be forthcoming due to trashed creditEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
i think you can set a limit each month- see if extra mins can be included in upgrade of tariff..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -

I know this point is not relevant to the thread but I have to admit I was rather shocked when I heard that despite making billions they did not pay a penny in tax in this country last year.
This is a scandal and something should be done about it, together with all the other companies that do the same.0 -

Nope, or at least not on Vodafone, it can be done on T-Mobile U-Fix and Tesco contract but not any of the other networks.
Three will let you set a zero credeit limit so in theory you can't make any calls as you have no credit to do so, but they also state this is not to be used for budgetting reasons and may not always work..0
