buying a laptop

My daughter is to buy a laptop. She has about £700 to spend. I'm looking at 4gb speed and about 320gb or 500 gb hard drive. However she is off to Africa for 6 months ( teaching in a school ) the school has broadband etc etc. We are extending the warrity. However the question is - does the warrinities extend to been abroad ( Zambia ). also Which laptop has a good solid case. Looking at Dell or HP. Any advice.

If she's of on her travels, maybe a £200 one might be a better idea

Consider a Toshiba as they have a service centre there and you can purchase a three year International Warranty for £45.

Any reason why you feel that you need 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive?

You are a complete and utter psycho; all u do is throw out abuse to others -- completely unhelpful .

busenbust the Psycho Stalker strikes again.
She is on ignore, so I can't read her posts, but what is for sure it that she is either linking to someone else's topic or trying to prove that she isn't a stalker and failing rather badly.

Buy a IBM Thinkpad T61 off Ebay. Built like a tank and you can pick them up for under £200.

She doesn't need 4GB RAM or a 500GB HDD in a machine. Most people don't - they just think they do. She'd be far better having a reasonable sized drive in the computer and a large capacity external drive so if she's out and about and the laptop gets stolen, the files are on the external drive safe back at home.
