  • If you actually have a TV license then you'll have the proof that sends any agent on their merry way. As it stands, it sounds like you gave them every reason to stay suspicious of you.

And if he doesn't need one, he has no reason to allay their suspicions. You don't have to prove you don't need a licence.

And if he does have one, he has no reason to prove anything, either. He can watch TV safe in the knowledge that he's legal.

I got a call of a neighbour to state someone is trespassing on my property , i quickly went to my cctv where i see this man placing his arm over a locked gate and opening it even though warning signs are on this gate, he managed to open the gate and enter.

I quickly opened my window to shout out what are you doing, as you are trespassing on private property , he shouted out that he was here because im breaking the law , i said what the hell are you on about and get the off my property.

He then said he has a right to do this as he is a tv license agent and im the one breaking the law , i quickly told him that i suggest he goes get the police then as he will just show himself up because I've had tv license agent checking my property previously.

He was becoming more rude and shouting so all my neighbours could hear.

I must admit i was shouting back and i did say some swear words because i was so angry, he then said to me come down here then and see who's the big man then.

I took that as a threat , he left and said he is calling the police.

I feel so mad and angry right now , i just rang the tv license people to be told that i need to ring back before 5pm to speak to the right department.

What should i do about this and can i get done for threatening to set my dogs on him if he didn't leave my property?

As neighbours do!? There is more to this than the OP suggests!

I don't have a tv, only cctv but then that can only pick up my camera signals.

I use the internet to sometimes watch youtube and itv player now and then.

I let them in previously and they said they were happy that i didn't have a tv , yet its happening again and im fed up of it.

He even shouted out that i was breaking the law , i mean what a joke.

I told him to go get the police then and a warrant, i welcome that only to make him look stupid.

Im sick of the constant letters and constant harassment , surely if I've let them in before then why keep bothering me.

Last time they said a van detected i had a tv so he said this is all the proof they need.

Opening the locked not only could of let my animals escape but also they could of attacked him , where would i have been then , probably get my dogs put down cause of his stupidity , i had dog warning signs every where yet he ignores them and opens a locked gate.

Thanks for everyones advice , im going to do what was suggest and send in a letter withdrawing their implied right of access.

Also going to log a complaint about the agent, have not made my mind up yet if i should log a complaint with the Police also , due to the trespassing and the threat.

like what? yes some neigbours do actually look out for each other, i phone the police over attempted break in before and also someone trying to steal a car.

I guess if you are a decent person you report any possible crime in youre area.

If i see someone getting into my neighbours i would of course phone them if not i would call the Police , thought this was normal but obviously not

They called me as they knew i was in, i never heard anyone ringing the outside buzzer, this person was opening a private locked gate.

That will make them keep wanting to come back to check, lets face it most people who have one before tend to have them now,

True, but it can save a lot of hassle if you simply let them know....

Just because you own a TV does not mean you need a licence.
