Have you tried plugging the VCR into a different SCART socket?

    Sorry if that is obvious.
  • Yes I have (don't worry!)

    Will try scanning thing.
  • Tried the scanning thing on analogue and managed to get a picture with sound and it isn't wavy looking. But still black and white (and quality is not the best)...
Any ideas now? I think this used to happen with the old tv too - but when you pressed something on the remote, it suddenly returned to colour... I wish I remember what I needed to do!

Also is the scart better quality than the rf out signals?

The scart output and input should be set to RGB or composite (Technically both should be composite as thats what videos output), and yes, id expect scart to be a little better than a standard composite RF signal

It sounds to me like either the input or the output is set to 's-video' which will make it black and white

Ooh sounds like alienRIK to the rescue again!

Where do I look to change it to RGB or composite rather than s-video? Oh is it the extra connector thing for the rf out? Not sure where that is but will have a rummage around to see if that does anything.

Hard to say without playing about with it myself

First place to look is settings on the tv. Look for scart inputs

Think you're right as it says AV2-S-video...

Can't find this scart input changing thing. Checked under option and settings... The tv manual doesn't state how to change it... Although it does say it does it automatically... May have to go into a Panasonic store and ask! Thank you.

    Panasonic TH-42PX80B

Figured out how to remove it from S-video I think (when changing to AV2 among other options such as AV1, PC etc. I can move side ways too within the AV2 category). Now it just says AV2 (which I assume is not s-video?) - but still in black and white...

But I do think it is still on S-video as it sounds familiar to what needed to be changed previously.

Hmm. Just realised that I don't know why it's showing on AV2 despite sticking the scart in AV1...

AV 2 generally OUTPUTS whatevers being shown on the tv so you can record

If the scarts in AV1 then clearly thats what you should be looking at
