Problem with video player

I have an old video player (Panasonic NV-HD100) and when I connect it to the Panasonic tv via the scart cable, there is sound and pictures but the picture is in black and white. How do I get colour back?

Any help is appreciated!

Try it with another SCART lead, or take the existing one out and reverse its direction. 99% chance its the lead at fault, either not making connection, or faulty lead.
  • Think the SCART is OK as I use it for the DVD player without any problems.

Swapped the scart around and back again - still no colour... but worse the pictures are slightly wavy! :D

So is it a problem with the VCR or should I test first with another scart?

As suggested I would try another SCART as they are notoriously bad.

You could always try the rf out of the VCR and stick it into the aerial socket.
  • Do I stick one end of the wire into the rf out and the other end in the aerial socket?

Yes - and then tune in the TV to "find" the VCR
  • I don't even need to tune - the picture appears although in black and white. Do I do this with the scart removed? Thank you!

You need to remove the SCART and tune the TV to the VCR so that it appears as another channel.

This will only work if your tuner is analogue.
  • Will try this thank you. But can you tell me how I retune the TV to the VCR! Do I need the old remote... (may or may not exist now...)

You need to find out how to scan for channels on your TV.

Can usually done with the remote or by a button on the TV somewhere.

Does your TV have more than one SCART socket?
  • It has more the one SCART socket - the TV is relatively new although the VCR is quite old.
